To keep this interesting thread going, I thought I'd post one for Cubbies fans.
I'm sure many of you are familiar with the Chicago Cubs tobacco tins...

Wow Brent

I've never seen or heard of this piece before. Did it come from a major auction house?

Hey Mike, I bought it around 2010 from an elderly couple that pick in the county, and sell at an antique mall. I specifically asked about its provenance and was told that it was found just the day before I purchased it, hanging in an old barn. I've looked, but have never seen another. It was manufactured in St Thomas Ontario, and judging from the 15cent purchase price, I would guess it probably originates from early in the run of Chicago Cubs tobacco products issued by Rock City Tobacco in 1936. I also have a matching cardboard counter box that once held the plugs the sign advertises.

Dang...very nice...what's the dimensions?...the way they're making fakes these days...It's to the point now where I want to see some wear...If that was mint...or even just good condition it would make me worry...Congrats on a great find...even if it was 7 years ago...

Hey Carlton, how have you been? I'm not at home right now to measure, but if memory serves, its roughly 10" x 27 1/2".

Default Seattle Rainiers

Here 's something out of the mainstream, Seattle Rainiers manager and hometown hero Fred Hutchinson, circa 1959, featured in a Boyd's Coffee ad.

The thing is huge, approximately 4x6 feet.

"Leo" refers to legendary longtime Seattle Indians and Rainiers announcer Leo Lassen.

That Boyd's coffee sign is huuuuuge! That's even cooler if you have the space to display it 😁 Mark, I love all of your O's stuff! Here are a few more of my displays. The Dream Team Lay's piece may not be of the vintage that is typically posted on here, but it is still one of my favorite pieces in the PC!

In about 1977 I was on vacation in Alabama with my Grandfather we were getting stuff for a Cookout and I saw this. Dropped it in a plastic bag when we finished and just recently opened it up.

It would have been interesting if he'd been on the 79 team. Probably would have screwed up the chemistry though. Cool poster, I like it.

It sure would of been. We can only speculate, but that sure would have been an interesting group of characters. Here's another from around the same time frame (late 70's I guess); he's not incliuded in this one. Unsure if this one is just an Orioles piece; I don't see it advertising anything except being a birdwatcher.

Default Ad Signs

Derek,

Once again some great stuff. The Spalding Advisory Staff piece pictures some real talent. Bet the Bucs fans will love that Iron City item (shoot I like it and I'm not even a Pirates fan). Rawlings item; just awesome!

I have a Rawlings sign I've had forever that doesn't really go with my collecting interests, but just like it for some reason. Of course I'd trade for an interesting O's item Ha!

Have fun at your sisters party...

Default Ad Pieces

The Gehrig Huskies poster is such a cool item. The Frisch addition is just an added bonus.

The Wonder Bread has such great players pictured. The colors on this piece is just fantastic.

And you have two of the Honest Tobacco now... just WOW!

Now... where are all those ads that picture Orioles players and or related to the O's.

These pieces bring back some wonderful childhood memories of the late 70's Yankees teams I grew up watching and loving.

I remember seeing that ad in my Burger King and I used to snatch up cards upon every visit. That helped intensify my love for baseball cards. Baseball cards and french fries

Any Reggie piece is one that opens my eye. I do hope to one day own a=some of the Reggie Bar ads.

That Roy White piece is spectacular!

Really like the display pieces. These two products are near and dear to me. When I first started working I started with a company that stored for Standard Brands which Baby Ruth and Butterfingers were a part of. At some point it was sold to Nabisco which we also housed. I worked for the company that warehoused the items till Nestle purchased the product; I think it was in the early 90's. Very cool items!
