Default Baseball Card with pin hole

Posted By: Richard

Greetings fellow collectors, I am considering purchasing a 1915 Crackerjack card that has a small pin hole in the middle of the top border. Would like to get the opinion of my fellow collectors if this is considered a very serious defect in a vintage Baseball card before I shell out any $.
Any opinions, comments or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank You,

hi. welcome. a pinhole lowers the technical grade to poor....so the value is lower. but you can pick up some very nice cards with pinholes for a fraction of what the same card without the hole would cost.

if slabbed it would be fair or poor,no matter how good the eye appeal is. i never let it stop me from bidding or buying prewar w/this defect.

The 1914 CJ is Ed Roush. Thank you very much for the comments and information. I appreciate it.

A lot depends on the size of the hole, too. Nevertheless, the best you can hope for is a SGC 20, GAI 1.5, or PSA 1. I had a CJ Frank Baker with a similar hole. Still a great looking card.

SGC graded one of my cards a 10, had staple hole. Without it probably would grade 30.

I have several cards with staple holes, pinholes, and worse. Each is a keeper. So to me, the only thing that counts is how much I like the card.

Certainly not what some independent organization determines is appropriate to use for a grading standard. A pinhole in the border to me is insignificant. Because the borders are designed to protect the picture surface, and this is an example of them performing their function.

I depends on what you like.

Old BB Cards that are pleasing to the eye - in which case go for it.

Plastic tombs with numbers greater than 1 or 10 - Skip it.

Good luck either way
