Hey Folks,
Here is the thread that will give details and take RSVP's to the 3rd Annual Network54 Dinner, at the National, in Anaheim. The dinner will take place at the Anaheim Hilton. It's at 777 Convention Way (right across the street from the convention). It will be on Friday night, July 28th, 2006. I have reserved a room and it will be a private dinner. It will start at 6:30 or there abouts. For the first hour there will be meeting and greeting of folks. I will have dinner served at about 7:30 (unless there's a better idea). We have the room all night as there is nothing else scheduled for our venue. I am told it is nice. THERE WILL BE NO MUSIC, only our loud voices. The room cost is $400 and if there are 50 folks, like last year, then plan on about $8 as your share of the rental. There will be a beef and chicken fajita buffet and it will be $18 ea, total. Drinks will be a cash bar. If anyone has a money issue then please email me privately. NO ONE will not be able to come because they don't have the funds. A partner, and I, will make sure of that. As I said before spouses and children are invited but remember there will be quite a bit of alcohol being consumed (especially for those of us that only have to crawl upstairs to go to bed). Last year we had about 50 rsvp of which about 10 didn't show, and about 15 that didn't rsvp, who came at the last minute. The RSVP is a big help, and almost a must, as the hotel has to know approx. how many to make food for. Please email me privately or post your rsvp here, in this thread. In the event that too many people want to come, but have not RSVP'd, then the RSVP'd folks will obviously take precedence. It's only fair....soooooo....please rsvp here or shoot me an email...thanks much

I was hoping to be able to attend so I could have a better picture taken this year but, at the moment, things are not looking too good workwise and I am likely passing on the trip this year as well.

If things change, I'll certainly let Leon know and repost in this thread.

I guess, for now, I will have to live with the status of having an uncorrected error pose.

I would travel to the west coast to be with you guys and visit Mark Macrae;
but, once again (5 or 6 years in a row, now) the "dufuss" who run the National
have conflicted with the HOF weekend in Cooperstown.

Since the early '80s I have done the show there. It's a really great show and
I wouldn't trade it for any other.

So....Leon, don't you, as the "highly esteemed moderator dude" have some pull ?
Tell these guys to shift their National event so that it does not coincide with the
HOF w/e (which is permantly scheduled for the very last w/e of July).

Hopefully, I will see all of you in Cleveland next year.

From what I've heard the HOF has actually announced their induction dates five years into the future for the 1st time ever and thus the people running the National now have a chance to avoid butting heads with that event.

Trust me, from what I know, the people running the National were just as frustrated as always being on the same weekend as the HOF induction as you are.

My friend....I have no pull with anyone. (maybe a little bit on this board but that's about it). I do know a few folks on the committee and a few other well known folks and I assure you (as Rich has) that there will be a lot of talk about the conflicting dates. I believe the National is also set several years in advance too, though. Not sure if the dates are set but my guess is that they might be...again, not sure...Hope to finally meet you sometime. When Bob S.'s show gets a home again I will try to make that journey......best regards

someone gave me bogus info on the dates early in the year and i made plans for the wrong weekend, (i guess i should of looked it up myself) i will not be attending the dinner but will be there saturday or sunday to meet as many members as possible...

Nothing personal but I deleted quite a few posts in this thread. I really want it to stay on topic....yea's and nay's. It will help me as we get closer to having to give the Hilton folks a number to cook/setup for....so far I have about 15-20 that have rsvp'd privately. A lot of hobby veterans, dealers, collectors, graders , and friends will be attending. The banquet director is going to call me Tuesday morning and I have to give her a fairly exact number....right now it would be 55'ish....

ps...Doug D....your dad said he's going wherever you pull him....so bring him along....I am sure he could use some levity....after all...it's just us 'ole collectors ....
