Maple Crispette Stengel

Like the Cleghorn from the hockey set, I know this is the short printed chase card from the set. Over the years, I have never seen one offered for sale and I have no idea how many exist.
Does anyone out there have any stories surrounding this card?

I believe there is only one example known of the Stengel. Brad may want to chime in on this as the Maples are his bread and butter.

I've heard the same as Andy: one known Stengel. Have seen pictures of it, but have never seen it bought or sold.

For those unfamiliar with the issue, the Stengel card was intentionally short printed. A kid could redeem a complete set for a big prize and and the company wanted to make that hard.

I don't mean to redirect the thread, but wouldn't prescience of experts dictate that a Stengel Maple is stronger from an investment standpoint than a Stengel T210?

I think the problem with that analysis is that the Maple Crispette is a Canadian issue and postdates the T210 by at least 10 years.

On the other hand one could make the argument parallel to the Lindstrom card.

I've never understood why this card is not as highly regarded as the Lindstrom. But maybe it is. I don't think any of the sales of the Stengel have been in public auctions with reported prices.

Maple Crispettes may not get their just due because they are a Canadian issue, as Steve pointed out. Still, the Stengel in that set might be a near one of a kind card and if it was ever offered in public auction, it would sell for an amazing amount.

The Stengel Crispette would sell for good money if auctioned today. It has long been ranked one of the hobby's great rarities. Plus, the Crispette issue overall is popular with today's collectors.
