Default 1955 robert gould statues catalog & Auction is open!!

I just got a terrific piece in for anyone who likes figural memorabilia. It's a catalog for the 1955 Robert Gould series of Baseball All-Stars statues. This set had 28 different players represented. They ranged in size from 2 inches to about 3.5 inches tall. They were molded hard plastic with the player name embossed on the base. These were the precursors to the Hartland Plastics statues.
Anyway, the catalog is fantastic. It lists all the players and has all 28 players cards in the booklet(paper- not the cardboard the statues would have been mounted on). I've only seen a handfull in over 25 years in the hobby. Below are some pictures - I thought you guys might like.

P.S. We just opened our Winter 2011 Sports Memorabilia Auction. There are 200 items. You can view them at :www.insidetheparkcollectibles.com

Default Pictures of statues

Here's what some of the statues look like (see picturesbelow). They aren't as detailed as Hartlands but there is an innocence about them. The pictures are of Smokey Burgess (then of the Phillies) and Don Newcombe of the Brooklyn Dodgers.

The toughest of the set are Willie Mays, Ernie Banks and Richie Ashburn.

Could only imagine how many dents and dings would have been created on Lansdowne Street, if Teddy swung that side!
