Default Need Help Identifying Brooklyn Dodgers:

There is a photo on Ebay professing to be of (7) Brooklyn Dodgers Left-Handed Pitchers.

The seller identifies Koufax(1) & Podres(3) as well as Ken Lehman, Fred Klipp & Danny McDevitt.

He does not mention a year but McDevitt started with them in 1957. Jackie Collum was the sixth lefty to be on the 1957 team, but no seventh.

Perhaps the photo was taken during spring training.

Could anyone identify the pitchers in L-to-R positions 2 and 4 through 7?

Thanks

The one on the far right sure looks like Carl Erskine.

From looking at the logo on the caps, and matching it with the photos at www.sportslogos.net, I believe the photo is from 1955. 1955 was Koufax' first year. Podres wasn't with the team in 1956 due to military service, and the logo looks like the one the Dodgers used from 1938-1955.

Well, he has a left-handers glove...so maybe not since Carl was a northpaw.

I ruled out 1955 because McDevitt was identified as one of the pitchers. If it had been 1955, and it is supposed to be left-handers, it certainly would have included Karl Spooner and Tommy Lasorda- Chuck Templeton was another lefty for the '55 & '56 teams, but did not play for the '57 team...nor was he listed for this photo.

Thanks for trying though

From Getty Images....

(Original Caption) An indication that it never rains but pours. In the 1956 World Series the Dodgers didn't have a southpaw to send against the Yankees. Now they have seven, as seen in this photo. From left: Sandy Koufax, Marty Stabiner, Johnny Podres (who is back from military service), Karl Spooner, Fred Kipp, Chuck, Templeton, and Ken Lehman

Great Work, Bob - I appreciate it!

UPDATE:

p.s. - I relayed your findings to the seller and he was both impressed and appreciative.
