Default 2999 - Provoke Me - I Dare You

My next post will be considered a milestone by some. It really means nothing to me, except that the majority of my prior posts probably were necessary only to reach this number and most of them added very little to expanding the body of knowledge relevant to the hobby. I realize that fully. My post count is only indicative of the fact that I have been around for awhile, and have never been banned.

I have made a few friends and a few enemies along the way. You know who you are even if you are not sure which category you belong in.

I currently have a sale pending on BST, which will be #500 for me in that section. That is a milestone that I am proud of. Being able to successfully complete that many transactions with only a few little bumps along the way is a tribute to all of you, who have dared to tango (it takes two) with me either as a buyer, a seller or a trader.

So here is the deal. Many of my 2999 posts have been in response to a prior post. A few I wish I hadn't made, a few may have been helpful to some and many might be referred to by some as obscure humor. My next post will be in this thread. Not to disappoint those with high expectations I am going to be tough to provoke. It won't be a "+1" or a "lol", and hopefully it will not be too obscure. All I ask is that someone succeed in provoking me to post again, because I am not ready to go away. Have at it.

Like the way Ty Cobb's hit total got reduced from an 'official' total of 4191 down to 4189, I think your post count is off by two. You are currently at 2,997.

Oh, and whatever political party you favor, you're wrong. I hate them.

This reminds me of something a small business owner on Facebook would post to draw tertiary or quaternary friends they haven't seen in 12 years to post on their wall, thus improving their overall score in the algorithms and ensuring more of their posts make it back as advertising to their unwitting Rube friends. Nice social experiment.

Hmmm. Interesting.

If nobody provokes Frank, he will be stuck at 2,999 forever and a day. He will "expire" too soon and unlike Clemente, never reach the vaunted 3,000 plateau.

We could even start a new thread disparaging Frank quite vociferously and, based on his "threat" above, he could never respond.

Hmmmmm. Interesting. Veeeeeerrrrrrrrrry Interesting.

1. I was the second gunman on the grassy knoll.

2. The moon landing in '69 was fake. I know because I filmed it in my basement.

3. Unicorns are real. I have two of them in a secure stable near Area 51.

4. The Monster Number thread was set up as a secret data collection endeavor, sponsored by some tech company whose corporate name is also a verb.

5. I personally saw Babe Ruth's called shot, the 1919 World Series, Ty Cobb's first game, and King Kelly's last game.

6. My Medical Degree IS real. The correspondence school said so.

That's all for now. Be on the lookout for my 3,000th post, in which I will discuss quantum physics, macroeconomics, and ice cream.

I hear Frank cast the deciding vote for Burkett on the 1946 Old Timers Committee.

Frank,

I will take a much different tactic to get your 3000th post to come out. When I first joined this board, you were one of the first people to reach out to me, and help me learn about collecting. I have bought many T206 cards from your BST offers, you are always reasonably priced, and offer nice cards for the money. You have taught me prices, fair competition, and helped me develop my eye for a good card that is under graded. I won one of your contests and you sent me a free Zeenut card that I still treasure to this day. I enjoy reading your posts, I enjoy your friendly banter with some of the other board members. You are always available to share your knowledge of cards, and a major asset to this board with your many contributions. So I want to say one thing to you, Dr. Frank. Thank you.

Hey Frank, if you think your crappy, overpriced cards can be disguised by rinky-dink marketing ploys and silly stories/play on words, you are sadly mistaken. This is no game. Do you think grown men/women just throw around $100 bills on cardboard prints for fun? When I see your BST posts, I just move on.

Default You should use your 3000th post

To further inflate your bogus "Monster Number Thread", sitting there as the all time leader in thread replies with 1730...which explains how you got almost 60% of the way to your 3000th post....

your move sir....

Not really a fan of threads w/o pictures of cards or the Chase Utley rule, but to each his own I guess.
Here's another McGraw for my back run...I should start a thread about it one day I think.

Thanks, Pete. One of the reasons I started the run was b/c I ran into a couple of difficult backs of it and decided to give it a go. I realize now that there are many different possible combinations of ad backs for this McGraw. Here's a "blank back T216" from a Goodwin auction, although I'm not sure how they know to qualify it as a T216...
