Only if you put Ultra Rare in the title and have 3 guys battling over it above the $133 level.

Pete-not the same card.

Red-thats what drives all auctions up.

I think this back is tough, but not Lenox or Red Hindu tough more like Carolina Brights or Broad Leaf 350 but a bit tougher than Hindu brown.

Also, Tom does get great prices. He had another grade 3 that went for $360 a couple months ago.

Any comments Tom?

Jim,

was a little high....but collectors are realizing the scarcity....Ted Z speculates that these were a short lived product such as drum bl 460 uzit, red hindu and the like...Ted your theory is very logical!(and correct i beleive)!they are rare, but bl 460 and drum are so sweet, ty cobb back were prob promos...

i like the pied "dark blue" 42 's !!!i have 2 ...did anyone see the one on ebay recently????? we had a post about that a few months ago i beleive they are the "red" hindus of piedmont 42's a little weird theory of mine...any thoughts?????

johny...I do not believe these are nearly as scarce as red hindu...or bl 460...they may have been issued at the end of the run...but since piedmont was the most popular smoke...it was likely these were issued in greater #'s.

Yes, the Factory 25 (Richmond) Piedmont 150, 350 and 460 cards were printed in the millions.
But, when the the Piedmont operations were transferred to Durham, NC (Factory 42) in 1911,
it was near the end of the T206 production line and these Piedmont cards were short-printed.

All 55 cards from the 350/460 Series are found with the Piedmont 460 Factory 42 back. But,
only 12 of the 48 Subjects in the 460-only Series have so far been confirmed with this back.

Of course, the Broad Leaf 460, Red HINDU and UZIT are more scarce than the Piedmont 460
Factory 42 back.

PETER AND TED ,

totally true!!i just felt like the dark blue 42 are just as rare as the red hindus...you guys are always on the money...

jim...both of those 42's look like the "dark" variation you have...congrats!!!...if u notice most pied 42's have a pale blue color or a lighter shade of the blue...
