Received 12 more '56s in the mail this week, including Fox and Martin. Now down to needing 58 to complete the set (VG/EX). Hoping to pick up a couple more this weekend at a local show.

Thanks Jeff. It's coming along better than expected lately!

I quoted you in my last post but forgot to comment.

Your latest P/U's, again, and not surprisingly, are super nice!

Congrats!

Beautiful Kaline. The early Topps AS subsets are so fantastic.

Wanted this Clemente for a long time - and highest graded to boot!

Got a few good Maris cards, including (what I think) is a really cool KC Athletics card that I hadn't seen before...

Nice cards guys!

These have been rather difficult cards for me but I took a chance with a new (to me) seller, who's scans were less than great.

For the price that I won them (way cheaper than what they usually go for) I thought I can always return them.

Needles to say, they are not 7's, 8's, 9's or 10's, but are much better than what I was expecting.

Glad to say I can scratch these 3 off my 52 Topps want list.

Nice centering on your recent pickups Irv....they are sharp looking cards. You have been hard at work this month adding cards to your set....me not so much, just these two (and only because of the 10% back on ebay bucks last week).

Thanks!

Some great P/U's again, SFMS. I have to get on board with that 10% ebay bucks as I never seem to know about it?
I do receive ebay e-mails/notifications, but I never receive notice about it?
Maybe, which was once the way, they are only available to U.S. customers?

I purchased my first high number card the other night. Again, the scans were less than great but the price was so I took a chance. If it looks close to the cards I just posted, I'll be very happy. It was only $65 for a high number card.

MCoxon, I flat-out love your suite of Roger Maris items. The poses are compelling, all with that certain eye appeal that "does it" for those of us that cherish Roger and his memory. Well done, mate!

thanks so much, Brian - I always love to see so many expressions across his set of cards -- Indians, A's, Yankees, and Cardinals.

That Athletics one just grabbed me as the perfect picture of a young care free kid doing what he loved.

I loved reading Roger's biography, and reading about his time with the Indians and As even before his move to NY. I only have 2 each from his time with the Indians (1957 Sohio and '58 Topps) and A's (1959 Topps and now this Jay Publishing). I think that A's is my favorite across all the cards of his, across all the teams, that I have...

Mike, you're most welcome. Thanks ever so much again for sharing your bounty. I would love to get a 1962 Yanks team issue Rajah as yours.

You bring up an interesting point about Roger with Kansas City. I discussed that very matter in my E-book on a CD, NEVER CHEAPER BY THE DOZEN. Roger did not welcome the news that he was going to New York. He loved it in KC. He and his growing family lived in a suburb there. After he was traded, the family stayed behind at their home. Roger simply clicked in KC, and the fans loved him there, whether he was hot or in a slump. He soon sensed their unconditional loyalty, and tried all the harder to play well for them. The Rajah could just relax and play his game, which was all-out without theatrics.

Well, time to shush. Take care, pal. ---Brian Powell

Great pick-ups everyone! Here's a card I saw mentioned in the "rarest post war cards revisited 20 top" thread. It's a 1976 Jerry Jonas Productions Ltd Mel Ott card. Found it on ebay a week ago after reading that thread, sure is oooogly!

Another toughie for me (Sid Gordon) and my first high # purchase.

Pretty happy with these 2 cards, as, again, I took a chance with less than stellar scans from the seller, but the prices were right so I went for it and I'm glad I did.

Been on a Banks spree as of late. Have a '54 RC, '59, '66 & '69 on the way. Just missed on a nice '55 last night. Kicking myself for that one.

Default 62 Bazooka Complete Box With Mays

Just arrived in the mail, and now being readied for PSA Submission. Currently there are no 1962 Bazooka Complete Boxes with Willie Mays on the registry!
And I think it happens to be in excellent condition, too.

Great looking stuff guys. Especially love the Bazooka box! Good luck with the submission.

Here are mine. The Rizzuto is new to my set, while Qualls and Checklist #9 are upgrades that I've been in search of for a long time. So happy to put those to bed.

Dave-- as is the case with every checklist in the 1970 set there are two versions of card 9. In the one you posted the bat stops short of the top border. In the other it goes all the way to the. border.

Have had a nice couple of mail days... Here is today's haul. Forgot to take pictures of yesterday's even bigger load. It was full of stars and commons from every year from 1950 to 1969. Took most of the day to go through it all and I am still organizing.... The two days equaled 2 '54 Ted Williams #1 and 2 '58 Koufax's. Several of these will be headed to PSA very soon.

My collection is in storage at the moment on account of a move, but I'll have to check which version I already had when I dig it out. I'm not a variation collector so never paid much attention to this, the bat color differences, 'Perranoski' etc. on the other CLs. Is one of the #9 versions significantly more difficult in high grade than the other? All I know is it took me a long time to find a good one of either. Most of my set is raw but I had to pony up for the graded 8 on account of the dearth of clean, centered ungraded.

Dave---on the CLs I think most were DPS and the differences are just cropping or set up differences that exist in fairly equal numbers.... and only weird people like me worry or think about them

Two more for the Hank Aaron collection. 1969 Nabisco Flakes...not great condition but I can be easy to please. And 2003 Greenville Braves bobnlehead. The Nabisco set has a great lineup and some good action shots...worth checking out if you haven't seen it.
