Default TV episodes with sports stars in them...

Saw an episode tonight of the old Dennis the Menace show with Sandy Koufax in it. Thought it was cool. Seems to be a lot of shows with baseball stars in them. Anyone remember any others??

Ryan Howard also on The Office.
Don Drysdale was on a bunch. The Flying Nun. Leave it to Beaver. The Rifleman. The Brady Bunch.

As for pre-war/television. Rube Waddell wrestled alligators in the circus.

Default The Rifleman

Of course Chuck Connors was a former baseball player but he also had a buddy from the Dodgers on one episode with him!! This guy really looked like a typical "Bad Guy" western character on this show!

I decided to do my second post on this. Something to read with your morning coffee.

Arli$$ - This was a show about an agent so of course there were many athletes who appeared on the show. The four major sports are easy, but there are also pro wrestlers, pro bull riders, surfers, tennis, billiards/pool, Olympics (soccer, swimming, ice hockey, skiing, figure skating, beach volleyball, track and field, basketball), NASCAR and boxing. I have also listed some athlete adjacent – owners, pro and college coaches/managers, boxing promoter. I did skip some of the well known announcers as the list is so long.

This was the best with athletes. Watch it at least once a week for a laugh. Roseboro climbing up the batting cage is a classic.

Not TV but Crazylegs Hirsch was in Zero Hour! as a pilot and his appearance was directly parodied in Airplane! by Kareem Abdul Jabbar.

Joe Namath had his own show in 1969, With Ali , Dave Debusshere, Don Clendennon, Emerson Boozer and Howard Cosell.

And Fred Dryer was the lead in Hunter. Not sure if that was mentioned yet.

Tony Lema won The Open Championship in 1964 and appeared in an episode of "Hazel" in January 1965. Sadly, he died when his plane crashed on a golf course in Lansing, Michigan in 1966.
