Default 1961 Roger Maris Topps 2 RAW

For sale is a 1961 Roger Maris Topps 2. Condition is very good. Corners are sharp, nothing wrong with back top left corner (that is the cards shadow off the paper), light scratch on front. Camera is zoomed in so flaws appear worse than they actually are. No negative comments please. If interested, shoot me an offer. Thanks for looking.

Asking price $250.00 >OBO<(sorry for the typo the previous listed price was for another card)

Contact Matt at mapags91@outlook.com for payment and shipping options.

Welcome to the board.

I think it might be a good idea to check out the asking/sold prices on eBay and then revise this. I put the set together a couple of years ago and the Maris set me back about $50(or a bit more?) as I recall in similar condition.

I've compared ebay and online prices. If I may, what condition do you find this card in? This is not a $50.00 card. I don't think I'll be sending cards off for grading. I hear it can take 6 months and with how the world is I don't feel comfortable doing that with high dollar cards. I understand the hesitation and gamble, but I'm not under valuing my cards because they're not graded. I'm willing to make efforts to allow potential buyers to see them first and if they find them to be authentic, which they are, they can send them off for grading themselves. You guys are the experts, you know what these cards are worth in your possession. I'm not a flipper, I just want to sell my collection for a fair price, not at a loss just because buyers feel they are taking a gamble. I will take best offers for my cards.

Its about $50-$100 raw corner wear and a crease maybe on the border towards the bottom?

You've been given advice on what to do.

Your card your price but you are in Dreamland. Glws.

No raw corners and no creases. You need better glasses or bifocals or whatever you old timers wear. It's well centered and it's a clean card. Maybe I do have it listed too high, maybe I don't. That's your opinion. I'm listing it in comparison to ebay sales and online store sales as I see fit with regards to its condition in person with a good set of eyes. Also, I'm here to accept offers. Please don't be offended by my asking price. It's negotiable. I have the camera zoomed in on all the cards and it's causing false perceptions. I'm hoping to eventually sell to someone in person, not looking to get robbed by nit pickers such as yourself.

I'm the last guy to ask about a possible grade. I don't deal with those companies nor do I buy many graded cards.

But what I *do* know is that when you post $1800 OBO I'm not going to bother with a reasonable offer since you'd likely feel insulted. Let's say this Maris is the last card I need for the 61 set and Im willing to overpay to finish it. Even if I'm thinking I'd pay $150 I'm not going to offer because it is obvious you're looking for far more.

I thought it was a typo when I saw 1800. I feel the card is in the 50 to 100 range. It would have to grade psa 8.5 to get 1800 dollars. That card is far from that. I would list it as best offer and see who chimes in to buy it. Send

I sold 80% of the set in August, 400 cards, for $900. It included Matle x 3, Maris x2, Aaron x2, Mays, etc etc etc. 1961 Maris is a great card, but it's not competing against Jackie Robinson prices, let alone Mantle from the same set.

Mantle #300 in solid condition, raw, often is being offered for $600 on eBay. I sold my Mantle 300, great corners but with a printer's line, for $185 just before I sold the set.

Default Maris

People are trying to help you out here, try not to call us old timers with eye problems (even though it may be true....HA).
Here is your Maris and a graded one. Obviously the graded one is considerably nicer in all aspects.
It just sold for under $300..

What ebay sales? A PSA 7 which is probably twice as nice as yours, went for $248. But you keep doing you.

Oh and before you start posting raw Griffey Donruss RCs for $500 they are not worth that either.

Look, I'll try one more time. You can't come here, post cards for sale with an asking price at 2OX the going rate OBO, tell us not to be put off by your 20X initial ask and expect anything other than ridicule.

I went back and checked on my Maris purchase. I paid $75 plus shipping for a copy with comparable corners, not quite as centered as yours. Admittedly I am very patient and looked at lots of copies to find one that hit my price/condition sweet spot. Let's say I was looking to finish a second 61 set with the Maris. I'd look at the listing I pulled the trigger on, look at yours and maybe offer $75 hoping you'd counter at $90ish. I'd pay that.

Asking $1800 and then telling us to not pay attention to your listed price makes zero sense. None. What's the point? Folks on Net54 know their stuff. Do ten minutes of research and come up with something close to the real world.

If I was selling that card I'd list for $120 OBO shipped and take anything over $100. If nobody bit in a week I'd lower it by $10/$15. Others may see it differently but based on your pic and what I see available elsewhere that's my opinion. YMMV

This feels like a troll thread - throw in the 53 Mantle and maybe the asking price is within the range of being acceptable!

may I suggest buying a price guide to help you with pricing. Again its just that a guide not a rule. Try a Beckett Vintage collector magazine ( or you can buy it online and just punch in year, brand and card number. This will give you a jumping off point. You can still look at Ebay for sale info. I know we all want to get the most we can get when selling. Just a little helpful advice. Good luck with your selling.

Yeah, but his picture is zoomed in.

I think I'll just sit back and see where this circus goes.

Bob it is a typo. Thats what I wanted for another card (Mantle 82). I'm asking $250.00 OBO for the 61 Maris.

How is it better in all aspects? Because it's graded? The only flaw is a small scratch on the front. Again all my pictures are zoomed in and the lighting makes everything seem worse. I'm really not even sure that it is a scratch. It might even clean up.
