Default E96 Rossman "Cleveland"--Any Theories?

Maybe this has been covered. If so, my apologies.

E96 Rossman, which was by all accounts produced by Philadelphia Caramel in 1910, identifies his team as "Cleveland." But Rossman only played with Cleveland in 1904 and 1906.

Any theories/input on why he was listed with Cleveland in a 1910 set?

Was he picked-up by Cleveland after being released by the St. Louis Browns in 1909?

Thanks.

Scot

In 1910 he played for Minneapolis and Columbus in the minors. I don't know, but maybe one of those was Cleveland's minor league team?

Ah, okay. Looks like Bill Hinchman, Glenn Liebhardt and George Perring also played for Columbus in 1910. Must have been the Naps' minor league affiliate. Thanks.

EDITED TO ADD: Does suggest perhaps that E96 cards were readied in the off-season between 1909 and 1910, before it was known that Rossman would not make the major league squad.

Default Claude Rossman

Hi Scot

E96

Perhaps, Philadelphia Caramel derived their info from Rossman's W600. Rossman's W600 cabinet (Circa 1904-06) identifies him with Cleveland.
The identical image of Rossman is depicted on the W600, T206, and E96 cards.

The American Caramel (E90-1) set has certain players in it whose careers ended several years prior to their issue date. Johnny Siegle comes
to mind....his career ended in 1906 (but his E90-1 card was issued in 1910).

My point here is.....that among some Candy issues similar discrepencies are found because the design (or planning) stage of certain subjects
preceded the actual issue date by as much as 2-4 years. I think I have noticed this also of some cards in the E91 set.
