I was thinking it was Jim Thorpe as well.
The physique of the batter looks for like Thorpe than Chase, FWIW.

My very first thought when I saw it was Thorpe. But a post on the main board saying they think it could be Amos Strunk, could also be the answer.

It's not Chase or Thorpe, unless the photo is reversed. Both hit right handed.

I wouldn't completely dismiss the player due to the batting style. I have seen more than one example when a company got it wrong.
