I thought I'd start a new thread with this scorecard from about 1945. The text on the inside is a little fuzzy because I had to compress it to post the images. But it includes a very nice story of Pete Gray's career. The "Barnstorming Colored Giants" roster had no names that I recognize, but several players are listed as members of Satchel Paige's All Star team.

Danny,

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I am pretty sure the M101-5s you picked up are reprints. If you look at the space between the inner border and the image, the gap is much larger than it should be on a true M101-5.

I am not positive though - maybe someone with a little more experience could give their opinion for you...

Chris - I was just going to say the same thing - that inner border looks wrong.

Lived about 12 miles from Paris the first 21 years of my life. Kinda strange to see that card show up on the board...

No clue Ed. I picked it up at the Antique show at the state fairgrounds yesterday from a Kansas dealer. Nothing written on the back except the price.

This guy is the grandfather of a good buddy of mine. Picked this up as a Christmas gift for him - been looking for awhile. I think he will be pleased.

This 1911 Murray T212 will go nicely with his 1911 Zeenut that I already own.

I don't post in these pickup threads nearly enough.

Here's a cabinet card of Eddie Collins from 1906, when he was a student at Columbia. If anyone here was a prior owner of this item, and you know more about it, I'd love some more info. Clearly the mount was trimmed away from the photo, but the image is stunning.

So you're the culprit Al!!! Nice pickup...I noticed that Hunt's had quite a few items that once belonged to Collins in their last couple of auctions.

Sorry, Dan.

I'm really happy to own this. I'm becoming more and more addicted to cabinets.

I hadn't noticed the Collins memorabilia in Hunt, but that's good to know - thanks for telling me that.

That cabinet came from Hunt's. I just assumed you won it there. Did you get it off of ebay?

A couple of months back (July?) they had 3 scrapbooks that belonged to Collins...I'm pretty sure this cabinet photo you have was owned by him.

Oh, no, I wasn't being clear. I bought the cab from Hunt, but wasn't aware they had a slug of Collins memorabilia that he once owned.

I wanted to dig around and try and figure out where the photo came from and who took the shot, but to me, it adds even a little more excitement if the cab was potentially owned by Collins. I'll have to get in touch with Hunt and ask them.

Thanks for that info!

I think you can almost bet that this cabinet was owned by him since it is from his college days and it's probably a one of a kind or perhaps only a few were made for he and his family. Add that to the fact Hunt's auctioned off scrapbooks owned by Collins and his wife and it's probably a certaintly. I've noticed Hunt's likes to spread out their collections they get from one auction to the next...they had a nice group of items that belonged to Smokey Joe Wood that they auctioned off over the course of 2-3 auctions.

Wow. That would be dope.

I'll report back to 54 once I find something out - I don't want to hijack the new pickup thread much more, but Dan, I really appreciate all that info. That really makes it a much cooler piece than I even thought it was, if it's the case.

Turns out that the Collins cab is, indeed, from one of Collins' own scrapbooks.

How about that! Thanks for pointing it out, Dan.

That's great Al. I don't know why Hunt's doesn't mention stuff like that in their descriptions, but often times they don't. Collins is my favorite deadball era player and I seriously considered going after that harder, but lucky for you a once in a lifetime panorama came up and I shifted my focus.

I bought this one a couple of years ago at a show in NY. Here are both sides of this cut-down cabinet.

The writing on back identifies him as Edward T. Collins and as Eddie Collins and has a partial date of what looks to be a 'y' followed by '31, 1908.'
