Default How much will the Goodwin Plank go for?

I was asked to start another poll about the Goodwin Plank. This card is a beauty and they've been crazy hot in the past couple months.

Isn't the PSA 8 Wagner supposedly also a unique factory cut Piedmont 150? Do we know anything about the provenance of this particular card?

Default poll

The poll should have probably started at less than 50k and then gone up to 250k.....Personally I think it will go for 160-225.....but we shall see...LL

I agree with Leon on the price. Isn't this card the only Piedmont back with an actual grade other than Authentic? I believe the final price could easily beat the price of an Authentic graded Wagner.

I was talking with a friend yesterday and speculated that it might bring 250k. Sounds like our thinking is similar on this one.

200+

The supposed Authentic Plank sheet mate to the Wagner PSA 8 went for 111k (BP) in 2009, Im thinking this will fetch double or more.

Gonna be high, real high. Prices have been soaring. I'd wager between 250 and 350 and if I had to make a single guess I say 305K.

WOW! A hand cut trimmed card with a numerical grade???? It should bring whatever a trimmed Plank Piedmont 150 warrants.

Dan, if you don't mind me asking, how do you know its trimmed? Can you tell from the scan alone or have you seen it in person?

I won't be bidding either way, as its about 350x more expensive than the most expensive card I own, so I'm just wondering so I can learn.

Thanks!

I have access to large raw scans before they were slabbed, the Wagner should be a 2 and the Plank and Magie are blatantly trimmed.

Welcome to 3rd party grading!

I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

c'mon, Dan...this is nothing new...just higher profile...higher buck cards than most grading errors. And the people buying them most likely couldn't care less.

Perhaps, but MUCH higher profile, don't you think? At some point if there is credible evidence that mistakes (or worse) have been made at this level of card, the hobby has to take notice.

"much" higher profile...like the Gretzky Wagner that started it all. it was corrupt from the start...why is anyone surprised that it continues.

God I would hope so Peter. That logic is what keeps me going. But when I see people spend $20K for a $50 1982 common card, I wonder if it will ever be fixed.

It is amazing how much fraud is in our hobby and all driven by greed.

I don't consider these recent abortions mistakes

So say these cards are proven trimmed some day, the whales turns their heads and leave, how would that affect the common t206 or other vinatge collector? The key there is "common". It doesnt seem these whales collect psa 2 CJs and thus dont really interact with me in any way. I can the affect on the ultra-high end of the spectrum. Just asking questions here.

And I have no idea how much this card goes for...

Will the fact that REA has 4 Plank cards, including one in ex-mt, in the upcoming auction influence the bidding in this one?
