Yep. I let one go last night and changed my mind when I got up and saw the bid that had topped mine was still in the lead.

Mullaney is no longer the most expensive scrap ever bought (that I am aware of). It was until this one. Great looking, weird card. Congrats to the winner. Some other T206 prices were insane again .

I think that the excitement and enthusiasm that Johnny has expressed on this board over the years has a lot to do with the increased demand of these T206 scraps. I would say the same for Paul and signed T206s.

My belief is that it is a very small number of folks driving up demand for these. If that is the case, then people becoming sellers rather than buyers could dramatically impact price.

I think that's true unlike the demand for rare T206 backs which are chased by any type or T206 collector. But who knows? I like the ghost images, I just don't think I'd pay 5 figures for them, mainly because there is no way to know how many are out there. Of course I also didn't buy Apple stock in 1985.

Default Scrap are

like "snow flakes" , each one is unique onto themselves....

rare backs are not as rare as the scraps.....the natural progression of collecting rarities will lite up the prices on this small sub population of cards...

I used to think it was a "few" of us driving up the prices, but the reality is the market is growing for these, and the supply is shrinking! I have a business degree(B.S. from the college of N.J.)....spent many years studying economics.....statistics......ect......but you don't even need to read to understand these things are .....the fact is, the prices will climb on these relative to rare backs and the Wagner....proofs....Plank ......natural progression...market will grow....an easy prediction for me.....

I have not bid hard on any cards in a while, nor have some of the "few" in this market....much more interest has gained through EDUCATION OF WHAT SCRAP IS!

If any one needs to know, you can ask.....education of the set is key....

I made no point in "hiding" what these are.....I have simply tried to educate "what" they are over the years....KINDA like shooting myself in the foot....I could've kept them quiet and kept scooping them up "cheap" on ebay when no one cared....Instead, I decided to divulge the actual significance/rarity of them in correlation to the printing/ history of this iconic set.....

Now I can't even afford one!!....yes bitter sweet in that my collection increases in value, but that not why I "hype" them up.....if that was the case, id be a "flipper" and make money off them.....everyone that knows me , knows I cant part with them(unless WAgner one day)......these cards have yet to be even realized their true potential/ rarity...

tell me, would you rather own a card where there are multiple , or very few examples?? and the all look the same??? or would you like to own the MErritt with a HOFER ONLY ONE...ghosted on front????

try to find a similar example of these....THEY DONT EXIST!!!

Paul has his "niche" and I think its a great one.....the actual players have HELD his t206....in my eyes, they have been touched with magic......and are priceless.....I respect the set....and will always....it's always giving up secrets, even after 100 years!.....scrap are the hidden gems...

this is just my humble opinion......I believe in these cards 100% ....I'm an ordinary guy just extremely intrigued by these cards, and have figured out some secrets very few have....I'm willing to share with the community....it's a cumulative of my observations and conversations with others like me...

these cards will grow exponentially.....

if any one has one and would like to part with a scrap, PLEASE email or PM me....

Personally I gravitate towards rarities...I'd much rather have a WWG ruth card which is much rarer than it's goudey counterpart...despite the fact the WWG are worth significantly less.

I have lots of cards of which only a handful have been seen over the years. I've always preferred Coupons/t215-I to T206 because they are much tougher...while still flaunting the sometimes beautiful front poses.

My tepididy for t206 is documented...BUT even I can appreciate the uniqueness of these scraps. I love unique cards...one of a kind even better. Cards that help to understand the process by which they were made...makes em even cooler. Fact they were meant to be discarded...that's probably top 2 or 3 attributes of a fine collectible.

Prices being paid for some of them...crazy! But many of us are crazy...I certainly am!

Analysis paralysis of collectors constantly trying to "create" scraps from non scraps...kind of annoying!

Kudos to you crazy guys for collecting these...I do think there are likely numerous handfuls buried in collections...but there is no denying they are tough!

Johny...are u from JErsey? Where'd u go to school?

Sorry we only do scraps here, and occasionally rare backs. Everything else is too mundane.

When I still had them, my collection focused almost exclusively on rare and one-of-a-kind items, very few people ever seemed to care about those treasures......

I came away with the t204 Keeler. Not exactly a common to help out my set, but I thought $390 was a pretty good price for a big-name HOFer...

It's the only one known & for sure unique/rare. Cobb's rarest card & a beauty.

there were a ton of nice HOF rookies, a couple went for about half what I was expecting so I ended up winning 2 of them!

Phil,
I had bids in on the Collins,Brown,Gehrig,Lajoie,Sisler,Plank,Johnson + Speaker but ended up winning the Lajoie Sport Supp. and Johnson Nov. Cut. at what I feel were half what they should have gone for. The Lajoie was #1 on my list as I rarely see that piece and the fact that he is listed as an A, makes it that much more attractive to me (I'm an A's fan). There are only a handful of HOFers who were rookies as A's but were then quickly moved to other teams of which they are famously more known for. The only other HOFers that I can think of that had rookies pictured as A's are Cap Anson, Joe Jackson, George Kell + Nellie Fox.

Yes indeed. It's been a crazy month for tough Hall of Fame rookies. The total combined population (never mind graded) of Ott Leader Novelty and Collins W600 could be in the single digits.
