Default Type 1 Ruth Photos Early 20's!!!!!!!!!!

Offering 2 extremely rare TYPE 1 Babe Ruth Photos.

The first one is a 1922 World Series photo of Babe Ruth's first at bat!

The second photo is from 1925 and depicts Ruth taking a mighty hack! You can even see the ball entering the catchers glove.

$750 for the 1922

$550 for the 1925

The problem with both of your photos is neither one shows his face! And not even a hint of a profile. Priority 1 with Baseball photography is to be able to see the players face. At least a profile, which is common in images in which the player is batting or pitching. Good luck!

Not cool to throw cold water on someone's BST auction. If you are not interested just move on and keep your critique to yourself.

So I guess these are uncommon then right?

He's just stating the obvious. Great photos. They would be more appealing if you could see his face.

There are obvious short comings with every item sold here. Why is it his role to point this out?

How is is any different than saying "hey, nice card. If the corners weren't so bad you would have gotten a higher grade".

Well, Steve Napolitano. For the last year, I've seen Stephen ask for help on many different items, and a lot of people were telling him to learn it on his own, and few offered to help. Stop me if I'm wrong. So I'm strictly a photos guy and have been for 17 years, so I thought I'd offer some help, as in just because it's Babe Ruth and from the 1920s doesn't mean it's worth a lot of money. So I'm the bad guy for helping while dozens of fellow board members refuse to do the same? Best regards, Jimmy Catanzaro

Default Wow

Jimmy has forgotten more about photos than all of the collectors on this board. Jimmy worked originally with Marshall and Henry in the very infancy of photograph collecting so if he is giving advice, I am listening!

Thanks for the lecture Jimmy. Next time you want to school someone, why not do it privately? Would seem a lot more effective as a teaching tool than crapping on someone's auction. And frankly I don't care if you studied under Charles Conlon.

Enough's been said. Two hot head Italians butting heads for God knows how long doesn't do anyone any good.

Default Personally

I think these are pretty neat photos. I don't really deal in many photos so i have no idea about pricing.

I'm sure many feel this way. I know I did.
