Default baguer cuban issue

Posted By: Cashews

i was wondering what you guys knew about this issue in terms of what players are featured in it and its scarcity. i've been thinking of picking up a few of these because the set seems like an odd ball and interesting one. if anyone has access to the psa or sgc registry and would be so kind as to post a couple population reports i would appreciate it. thanks guys.

Very peculiar set the Baguers are. If you have never seen one in person they are TINY!!! I will post a picture of a few below including one in a standard size SGC holder just so you get the idea of how tiny the cards themselves are. There are 90 cards in the set and they were issued with an album (which was not much more than a folded piece of paper with spaces for all 90 cards. The backs can either be printed in Red or Purple, I have personally handled more of the red ones but neither seem to be too tough. Some obscure players are pictured in the set which is one of the reasons I like them. They do occassionally come up for sale and rarely cost an arm and a leg--probably due to how tiny they are.

Here is standard size SGC holder with Baguer in it...

Here are some blown up shots...

The Baguer cards are fairly rare overall and especially tough if your looking for a single player. Ive owned about 2 dozen over the years.

Baguer cards are not graded too often because of the size. They are the smallest of all baseball cards (5/8" by 7/8", the same size as a postage stamp or even slightly smaller. The checklist is in the SCD Standard Catalog of Baseball Cards, there are 90 cards in the set.

This picture is larger than actual size

edited to say Rhett beat me to it

Jodi:

The back is actually pretty clean. I think it is due to some small paper loss on the front of the card.

Check this out, never really see the fold over holder. This would be a heck of a good start on your run!

The Ruth is in the top left corner of the right side page in that Hunts auction for the album. The pose isnt the best he is hatless with his head turned.

Ive owned 3 of the Ruth's over the years but dont have a scan, maybe someone else does.
