Default ID Help - Album of Homemade Cards, Some Real

I have had this album for a while and I am looking for some ID help.

I am pretty sure that a lot of these are cut outs from magazines and other publications, but some are also real cards and postcards and I'd like to know if anyone recognizes cards that I don't. Trying to figure out a value. (If you are interested in this, shoot me a pm.)

I am not interested in player ids, I have a lot of those. Just curious what here comes from a known issue (and if it does, then the player id). If any strike you as being from a particular publication, I'd like to know that too.

This kid took some real time with this as even the magazine cut outs were glued to cardboard before they were glued into the album.

I will update the lists with the answers y'all provide.

Thanks in advance.

If you know the player names, then posting those can help everyone locate more of the item origins. Some definitely look like cards, but without player names, it may be harder to search and locate the images to confirm.

Hey Bryan,

Nice pick up for sure. This is a really cool collection of images regardless of whether they are from actual card sets or not. Many of the players are easily identifiable. The Mathewson (2-9) is awesome as it is his E98 image. Then there is a Waner (4-1) and Walter Johnson (5-11 & 8-8) images but I don't know if they are actually cards. Then there is a Ruth (7-13) image which is pretty cool. The Edd Roush (4-10) image is the same as on his W517 and could be cut from one of the cards, but I don't think the one pictured is actually cut from the card. I'm sure others can help more than I can, but just wanted to say how cool it is. Talk later bro.

3-2 Babe Ruth?
3-6 could be Al Simmons

8-1 could be Jimmie Foxx
8-5 could be Mickey Cochrane

Page 8 image 8, 21 exhibits Johnson
Page 5 image 4, R316 Kashin.
Page 4 image 14, looks like Johnny Kling, no idea of the issue.
Page 4 image 1, obviously Waners image for 33 Goudey but I've never seen the BW image.
Neat scrapbook.

A couple of more as look at it more.

Page 1:

player 2 - image used in W517 Earnshaw

Page 2:

player 2 - image used in W517 Heilmann (page 8 also has a similar, but slightly different Heilmann photo versus this exact W517 one...I was fooled previously!)

Thanks for the IDs! I added them and dug into this further tonight, adding a couple more W517s myself and adding IDs to many of the images. I also go out my loupe to look more closely at which appear to be magazine/newspaper images mounted to cardboard (that was then cut out and glued into the album) vs likely actually being a card itself. It looks like we have ID'd the potential cards apart from Page 2 #7, Page 4 #9, Page 6 #4, Page 8 #11.

And now I just got Page 4 #9 as W517 Bill Terry. So this leaves

Page 2 #7
Page 6 #4
Page 8 #11 - Christy Mathewson

After looking at these three again, I think there is a good chance they are the magazine/newspaper cutouts too but are just better mounting jobs. So this would mean we have ID'd all of the cards and many of the players.

Page 6, picture 4 is not a W517 image.

Page 8, picture 11 is not likely Christy Mathewson, based upon the commonly seen bending over infielder pose instead of a pitching pose.

Page 8, picture 16 appears to be a photo taken in the same photo session (notice differences of his body positioning against the same wall advertising backdrop) as the image used for Heilmann in the W517 set.

And for some player identifications/corrections:

Page 2, picture 6 - Traynor

Page 2, picture 13 - Goslin (mistakenly identified as 2-14. Also only 15 pictures on your listing for this page, not 16)

Page 3, picture 1 - probably not Waner

Page 3, picture 14 - W517 Lazzeri (mistakenly identified as 3-13. Also this page has 17 images, not 16)

Page 5, picture 8 - Bottomley

Page 5, picture 10 - Lefty O'Doul

Page 5, picture 12 - Cuyler?

Page 6 - missing image 16 in listing for this page.

Page 8, picture 12 - Eddie Collins

Brian - by the way, cool scrapbook and love all the different photo images of well known players. I also recognize a bunch of other players but can't put a name to the image on those.

You have several severely cut down Exhibit Supply Co cards from the mid to late 1920’s in that collection.

I looked through and some that jumped out at me...

Page 1 image 5 is 1921 Exhibit George Dauss

Page 2 Image 7 is 1928 Exhibit Slim Harriss

Page 3 image 15 is 1928 Exhibit Ogden

Page 4 image 4 is 1921 Exhibit George Kelly

Page 6 image 10 is 1928 Exhibit Eugene Hargrave
Page 6 Image 16 is 1923/24 Exhibit Charlie Grimm

Page 7 image 11 is 1928 Exhibit Paul Waner

Page 8 image 11 is 1921 Exhibit Ivan Olson

Those are the ones that I could recognize pretty straight-away

Thanks for all the help guys, especially Brian and Rhett! This is great - you've figured out more of these than I had hoped we could.
