Obviously, Honus Wagner is all the way on the right, I'm not sure about the others. Any idea what year this photo was taken?

My guess 1904-05
Left to Right-
1. Al "Butts" Wagner ?
2. ?
3. Patsy Flaherty ?
4. Deacon Phillippe
5. Claude Ritchey
6. Sam Leever
7. Honus Wagner

Pretty sure of the last 4.

Third from right looks like Claude Ritchey.

My first thought when I saw the photo: "Damn, those are some ugly jackets!". The eye of the beholder : )

Admittedly, by today's standards, those jackets would be an eyesore. It's almost impossible to picture Big Papi, Ichiro or Manny trotting out of the dugout, wearing one of those.

But the Nostalgia factor, and the fact that they are so antiquated makes them all the more intriguing. I think it's more a case of "absence makes the heart grow fonder", rather than "eye of the beholder".

This hardly looks like athletic apparel... But I am sure that in a Catalogue Auction, one of those jackets (common player) would easily fetch $15,000 or more.

Is it weird to anyone else that the guy next to Wagner is wearing a jacket that buttons up opposite of the way the rest of the players jackets do? I thought only girls clothes buttoned the opposite way or maybe they did that for lefties back then. Reminds me of the time Michael Scott from "The Office" accidently buys a womans suit at a clothes store that had no pockets on the butt so they as him to check the label and it is "Miss-Terious".

I think it's just that the guy on Wagner's left has buttoned the inner flap of the double breasted coat over what is ordinarily the outer flap. Just a theory.
