Default OT: Dating Vintage Football Uniforms

I know there's been much talk of dating old baseball cdv's based on the uniform style, but is there a similar website that discusses vintage football uniforms. I recently picked up some old 'hoosier' photographs and would love to figure out what era they date from.

Jamie -

I'm not sure of any reference material but I might be able to give you some loose time frames if you can post some pics. I've collected a few football images and have a rough idea.

I may not be able to help you as much as I thought. My collecting was all pre 1900 and this fella is probably 1920 or later.

Looks around 1920s. What you want to do is to see if he's wearing a University of Indiana uniform, as that's where the value would lie. A good big college photo can be as valuable as a pro.

I've bought and sold a lot of football photos, and one thing I've learned is that a U of Michigan or Nebraska or USC photo can be worth the same or more than the equivilant Chicago Bears or 49ers or NY Giants photo.

Even if you plan on selling a 1940 Bemiji State or Dartmouth football photo, there's a better than 50/50 chance there's will be an alumn who will want the photo.
