Default Need some opinions, Josh Gibson Cool Papa Bell Photos

I'm not well versed in vintage photos but knew enough to pick these up when I saw them. Popped out of a scrapbook from ~Nov. 1940. They both measure 5-1/4 x 13-1/4 and are more heavy card stock. Can anyone tell me if I have something here?

I honestly have no clue, but if they aren't fantasy pieces that's an awesome find.

You pull these out of the scrapbook yourself?

Reason I ask is because I found both of these photos a few years ago(might even be the same ones) on eBay. Asked the guys on here and ended up passing on them. Same creasing, old look to them and I think we all came up with them being some very aged reprints. Can't find the thread though, but it was a couple years ago. Same exact photos

I didn't pull these myself, the person I bought them from included the page they were taken from. The reverse has newspapers clippings.

Thanks for the link to the previous thread.

They appear to be different copies of the same photos. Jury would still be out. Too bad we didn't identify the seller in the original thread.

May want to send to one of the board's experts to examine and let us all know what the deal is with these.

Also, I now see that the Gibson photo appears to have the same image as this 2001 Upper Deck card:

Is the seller of these from Ohio?

They lead the country in fakes, if so, bad sign.

To my eyes, they have all the earmarks of other artificially aged and yellowed Negro League photos floating around the last several years. I'd be very much surprised if PSA judged them to be authentic Type I.

Yes, these were purchased at the Scot Antique show in Columbus, OH. I'm not at all optimistic. If someone can recommend a source to check these out, I would be happy to send them.

Yah sorry, i've seen many fake negro league photos from Ohio over the years so not surprised that's where these are from as well.

They are neat, if they were inexpensive, I would have grabbed them too.

On their individual own merit you might think it was a souvenir type 3 team photo or something. Together, they raise more question with the different uniform styles. With the same size and design, you should expect them to be from the same year and issue. That, and the Gibson photo is really one of the most familiar ones out there. Scary when it is a very well used pose.

Really fun, but super questionable.

I'm not out a lot. My plan is to head back down there tomorrow and speak with the guy that sold me these (I don't think he is the source).

My two cents says that they are both fakes, no doubt about it.
