Default M101-2 survey

Posted By: John S

Two years ago I posted regarding ad backs on M101-2's. From my observations and from conversations with a few other board members the ad-backed M101-2's seem to be extremely rare. Please post the total number of M101-2's that you have in your collection and how many have ad backs (if you have an ad back include the players name).

12 total / 1 ad back (Joe Wood)

Edited to say that I bought a 40 piece Lot last year and each arrived in a nice plastic sleeve with cardboard backing. They have remained in that state since and I have never looked at the backs. Maybe I should look.

I have 98 of them total, and 2 have ad backs (one each of two styles).

Players are Schulte (3/2/1911) and Zimmerman (10/30/1913)

These ad backs are really cool (as well as rare) and are among the highlights of my collection.

Looking forward to seeing more of the survey results--

Tim

Tim or John, I hadn't seen these ads before. Do you have a scan please?

I will post a scan of the Wood reverse later. It is very different than the one posted in the original thread. The one that I have was once folded into six sections; most likely because it had been mailed to subscribers to sell extra premiums after the original release dates (I know of a few other ad backs with similar folding patterns).

So far 359 tallied, only 3 with ad backs. There are about 100 listed on eBay currently, all blank-backed. It is probably safe to say that less than 1% of the M101-2's have ad backs. I would like to get the n to about 1000 so keep the information coming, even if you only have one or two. Thank you for the contributions thus far.

Hi John,

I have 89 cards, and one ad back--Callahan. I agree qith Tim Newcomb that the ad backs are very cool, and seem to be quite rare. Good thread.
Cheers, Mike
