Default Mastro....who's got their winnings? Not gonna ask about consignment money :)

Posted By: Dave F

Just curious how many have already received their winnings from Mastro?

Also, do/have they usually send an email alerting that your shipment has went out?

And no, I wasn't going to bother asking if any consigners have received their money yet. happy.gif

Just like the email said it would.

Yes, they have been sending emails of late, as have a few others that use UPS or Fedex

I got my package yesterday, without the fancy tape. When you run out of tape that usually spells the end.

I emailed yesterday asking for an update (and a little reassurance given everything that's going on). I received a reply which only gave me the shipping rules from the catalog. Personal check is considered cleared after 10 business days. Shipping will happen within 5 days after. That means that all of us who paid immediately by check can expect our packages the week of March 23. Those who claim they paid by check and already received theirs must be mistaken.

Incidentally, I also called the new Legendary number before I received the email reply. A few hours later, Doug Allen called me and said it should probably arrive the middle of next week.

So there you have it. If you paid by check, you can expect to receive your winnings, last week, today, next week, or the week of March 23.

TT

I'm confused. You guys are waiting for your cards from the recent auction? Or consignment money from the December auction? Or consignment money from the February auction? And when you call Doug asking about the consignment money does he say "I don't know anything about Mastro owing you money--I work for Legendary Auctions now?"

Happy to report I got my winnings in a timely manner. Also while it seems they were dragging their feet and ignoring all messages during the transition regarding consignment payments (I had mentioned in another thread that I had not received) as soon as the new venture was announced they provided great follow up and sent my check right out. Know this thread isn't about payments but to be fair I wanted to say they settled things up on this too.

Still waiting for the goods... taking forever, it seems. I paid promptly by check, but you would think they would know/trust me after a decade of purchasing and consigning. I guess they have a 10 day hold policy, or something like that.

it does not make sense but i am sure you will get your package soon. I received mine last week only after 3 days of them cashing my check. I paid right away with a personal check and i have not won many items over the last few years.

hang in there...

Sent payment to Mastro on March 10, cheque cleared March 17, received e-mail same day saying package on its way via FedEx. Appreciate the heads-up, can't complain.
Sent Scott and Leon payment on March 12 (was waiting for my AIG bonus, thanks for your patience), cheque cleared March 17, package delivered March 18. Thanks for the Red Carpet treatment, guys!

Edited to add that my Mastro winnings arrived today sans fancy packing tape but otherwise in good order and in good time. I appreciate that they didn't pull that "hold for 10 days after check clears" shtick like some of the other auction houses. Why they are taking forever with some of you and not with others is a mystery, seems almost random and I was just lucky I guess.

Check cleared March 9th, now 10 days later, still waiting for delivery, or any sort of notification for that matter. That's called LEGENDARY service.

Still waiting here as well. No notification or status update of any kind, and it is making me nervous.

You would think there could be just one person to answer the phones over there. Customer service is non-existent, and the "Legendary people" might want to reconsider this, given the fact that the old Mastro customers will also represent their new customer base.

The person that answered the phone at Mastro Auctions said that the delay in shipping the auction lots is because they are working with a "skeleton crew". She said shipping should be completed next week.

Jerry:

You got through to a live person? Maybe I am calling the wrong #... (630) 472-1200. It goes straight to voice mail, and then to a "General Mailbox" (whatever that is). The General Mailbox messages never seem to be returned, or even get listened to.

If you called a different number than the one I listed above, could you please email me? I would love to know how to reach someone live at Mastro or Legendary (or whatever they are called at the moment). Thanks!

Went to the Sun-Times Show in Chicago tonight and Legendary had a booth set up which was the same Mastro backdrop with a "Legendary" sticker over the "Mastro". The Legendary backdrop had all the old Mastro prices realized and photos.
Anyway, they claim that everyone has been paid and all packages had been shipped from the Mastro auction. Wonder how they knew that? I have not won anything for a few years, but I hope you all get your winnings soon.

I have bought an sold items through Mastro for several years. I have known Bill Mastro since the 1970's, always a stand up guy. Never any problems. I can't believe the piling on to this company. I am pretty sure most of you have had positive dealings with Mastro buying and consigning. I am certain everybody will receive their money and goods.

Joe...

That's the very reason that so many have posted to this thread with comments of disbelief. What was the undisputed premier auction house over the past decade has now reached the point where there isn't even a receptionist to answer their phones.

The company who was unparalleled in terms of customer service can no longer return a phone call or provide a tracking number. It is almost unthinkable to see how far/fast the "empire" has fallen. To your point (as both a consignor and bidder) there was never a single problem in the past... only positives. That's why it is so startling that not a soul remains, who is available to speak with. Even a blanket voice-mail recording would be somewhat comforting.

Needless to say, the goods are still in limbo, with no return phone call, notification or email. Hopefully Monday...

setting up at booths to get new consignments yet people from months ago are unpaid and no word from many of us on winnings from last month...no return emails, phone calls....just the basics of running a business we are talking about...very reasonable expectations. perhaps the former marketing/PR person from GAI is now at mastro/legendary?

*The person that answered the phone at Mastro Auctions said that the delay in shipping the auction lots is because they are working with a "skeleton crew".*

If I had known they were working with a skeleton crew, I wouldn't have paid the obese buyer's premium and shipping charges.

My $2500 check cleared my account on March 5. Doug told me on the phone that I would have my items the middle of this (last) week.

I'm a business management professor. They fail.

Mine came Friday. I was a little slow paying by check, so didn't expect anything much earlier. I'm happy with Mastro and haven't had anything to complain about, but understand the frustration of others - hope everyone gets their packages soon. My only complaint is with UPS, which called Thursday to tell me they were delivering a package sometime between 8am and 9pm...

It seems to me that some confusiona and delay should be expected. The people at Legendary Auctions must know that bidders and consignors would hold them responsible should Mastro fail to come through with the items and the money that is owed.

I don't know that i'll be bidding in the inaugural auction next go around under the new name. I don't know how comfortable I'll be with that...perhaps if it goes well maybe the next go around?
