Default I noticed this..

The BOLD SECTION IS MORE A THOUGHT. The underlined section is a question.

I was just looking into other grading companies, and realized that Beckett is actually more expensive that PSA in bulk.

I had no idea until now. I do like their holders, but wouldn't one have no choice but to go to PSA if they are cheaper and bring more money?

Also,

I wanted to know your thoughts on this...

Is it really true that if I were to send in say 10 cards of X to PSA that are in a SGC or BVG case, my chances of getting them crossed over to PSA in that grade are a lot lower than if I popped them out and submitted raw?

I don't want to risk damaging any cards and didn't think this sounded right.

I have been told by a person who works at a significant AH that when it comes to nice cards, PSA will almost never bump you up, and often times will downgrade you, if you try to cross over something in another company's holder. Sending the message that they don't play second fiddle to anyone.

God, that just reeks of politics and I hate it. Grade the card what it deserves!

You ask for it a grade lower, just to make sure it's not trimmed, then crack and resubmit.

I initially went with SGC because I didn't like the "club"(I call it a cover charge) setup of PSA.

Now there's not much difference besides the holder and in many cases the price you might get later on. I've also seen stuff I really don't like from both SGC and PSA, and both have a cover charge, so I'm not sure what I'll do. Not a big deal, the cards weren't graded anyway, and if they stay that way that's ok too. (Hopefully both companies are listening! Don't "fix" cards that you either damaged or missed the damage on. And when an error is impossible and thus fake, don't insist it's genuine!)

I forget why I didn't do Beckett, besides perhaps they were more expensive.

My first few were on a monthly special, and could be dropped off at the one show I manage to get to.

Default comparing the companies

After submitting thousands of cards between the 3 companies, the most important conclusion I have come to is that there is never 1 way to call it. Every card is graded by a human being using his/her best judgement. There are many cards I perpetually crack and resubmit, receiving a higher or lower grade each time. Again, cards are graded by humans, not robots.

Some real data to marinate in: My SGC to PSA same-grade-minimum crossover rate is exactly 30%. That is only for cards that I truly think have a chance. I don't waste time and money just sending them anything for a review.

I have also cracked many cards out that were originally denied a crossover when reviewed in the holder, only to receive a higher grade on a raw submission.

IN SUMMARY, just send in your cards by whichever manner you please and hope for the best. Grading is an accurate, but not perfect science.
