Default T210 numbers question ...

Posted By: MyBuddy

I did not want to high-jack either of the 2 T210 threads going (Jackson and Goodwin), so I decided to start another.
As a collector of a sub-sub-set "Series 1 - Savannah" (have 10 of 13; actually 9 of 12, count Schulze, Macon, since he's shown with Sav. sweeter).
http://photobucket.com/albums/a296/mybuddyinc/t210%20series%201%20Savannah

My question is: What are peoples "guess-timates" of the number of cards each player may have ??? The Jackson auction claims ~10 known. I know Series 8 is rarer than others, but Jackson "back then" was "just another" player in the series. So are there only 10-15 cards of each of the other Seriers 8 players ??? Of the more "common" series, are there only 20-25 of each ??? If so, maybe T210 is "THE" set to get into ...

(BTW ... although p/f/g, my card average is $22.54/each ... )

Zach,

I don't know the actual number, but there are more than 5 T210 Jacksons.

intresting.....I have heard from a very reliable source that 5 existed and was given the names of the people that owned them. Of course I could be wrong but even so there can't be that many out there.

I am aware of another one. It is in a collection and not graded and I believe it was purchased in the early 80's. I have never seen the card but am told it has a larger border than the one from REA and is much nicer than the one currently on eBay.

Default T210 numbers question ...

I may have mislead my initial question. It is mainly on overall numbers of T210 player cards, not Jackson specifically.

But, since Jackson is so well followed, it is said that there are 5 or so "known" T210-8-Jackson cards to exist.

Does this, by deduction, mean that there are only 5 or so known T210-8-Huelsman or T210-8-Jordan cards to exist (two players alpabetically surrounding Jackson) ???

My logic would say "yes" since Jackson (in 1910) was just another So. Assoc. player, and I can't imagine a random choise as a "short print" gimmic. I would have to think other players have similar numbers.

Agree/Disagree ???

(This responce is in no means to deminish Jackson's place in history or in this hobby)

I think Joe Jackson hit over .350 for New Orleans and moved up to the Cleveland American team late in the year and hit over .380 while there. Joe Jackson was never "just another player" wherever he played. In his first full season with Cleveland, he hit over .400 for gosh sakes(1911). The thing about most cards from that era is that people were more likely to keep cards of better known players at first. But when card collectors get to the cards, until the late 1970's, it really wasn't who was on the card, it's whether you needed the card for your set. There weren't a lot of avid T210 collectors in the '50's up through the '80's. I can remember going to many a show in the '70's and '80's and whenever a guy had a lot of T210's, I'd just buy him out for pennies. Then I'd take the cards home and sort them out. This is a tough set to figure out. I suspect that any particular card from the set can be very hard to get and I suspect there are T210's that are tougher than Jackson, but I am pretty sure more and more will be found. I think this set will catch on much like the ugly T207's have finally caught on.
