Default Babe Ruth - Really JSA?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Babe-Ruth-Ba...vip=true&rt=nc

Does JSA really think "Mommie" was penned by the Babe?

Read the listing. It was added after the fact.

Where in the JSA letter does it say that?

Give Jimmy a break. How is he expected to have time to compare the word "Mommie" to existing examples of Babe Ruth's handwriting? Sure, we can do it, and it's easy to see that Babe never could have written that, but we have the extra 5 minutes to spend looking for exemplars. If Jimmie did that, he'd have to add another $100 bucks to the authentication price.

"The photograph is signed "Babe Ruth + Mommie" in fountain pen, with wife Claire adding the "+ Mommie" portion." per the auction and then the letter says it was penned in his own hand... hmm...

Kudos to the seller for correcting JSA's error, but again - they've got the extra 5 minutes to check on it.

The bigger questions is why JSA calls this "Ruth walking with gun", shouldn't it be "Ruth walking with wife".

This seems like a pretty benign error to me. Nice piece.

Low hanging fruit. If they make errors like this, what other errors are they making.

Correct. Not like they have had errors on something big. Just the little things.

Perhaps a company name change is in order? e.g-JSBA

Signing after death is a trivial error. Right?

Paul,

It may be picayune grammar, but you are correct. He is walking with is wife and carrying a gun. He cannot walk with a gun as it is an inanimate object and cannot walk.
