Default FS: 1897 Scorebook Rookie Honus Wagner Cap Anson Nichols Duffy Hamilton ++

Dating to August of 1897, this scorebook contains 18 scored games that took place in Boston. 16 of the games are for the Boston Beaneaters and two are semi pro games.

Key names include Anson, Duffy, J. Collins, Hamilton, Nichols, G. Davis, Rusie, D. McGuire, Clarke, Burkett, Wallace and of course Wagner.

Wagner had 9 hits and scored three runs in the pair of double headers on August 23 and 25 of August 1897. The second game on August 25 is significant as it was the first time in his major league career that Honus Wagner played the infield. He played second base that game, after spending the first month in center field.

This was also the final year in the career of Cap Anson.

This may be the earliest appearance of Wagner in a scorecard known to exist.

Asking $950 delivered.

Hey Tom, nice scorebook. If I didn't already have a few from this period I'd probably be chasing it harder. Do you have any price in mind?
