Default Al Demaree R304 in Collect Auctions

I thought the finishing prices for the R304's in Collect Auctions were higher than anticipated. Did anyone else have any thoughts on this? I think part of the reason is that there were so many Uncat cards that were listed in this acution. It seems that when a lot scarce cards are listed in an auction, the prices are not as strong as one might anticipate.

I wonder if the stronger than anticipated prices are related to the supply of these cards - which is normally so scarce - that this sudden availability caused more people to start collecting this set. Thoughts anyone? Did anyone win any of the lots?

I think heading in many people think this way, but in actuality, it almost always works out the other way - the large group attracts a lot of attention and folks figure if they're going to pick one up that would be the best time. It happened last week with the group of Worch Cigar cards on eBay as well with lower tier HOFers selling for over $300.

When it does happen that a large offering of type cards goes low, it usually seems to be commons. HOFers seem to gather attention in these settings.

Default yeap

I thought these cards did very well and ended up a bit higher than I thought they would. Collect.com is doing a good job with their auction division (yes, they are an advertiser too....) and they seem to be picking up some steam. I nabbed one multiple card lot for resale. I already had these two in my collection. I think the umpire cards are really neat looking...

Agreed, I thought the prices were very strong. I fell asleep and ended up winning 1 of the 5 I was bidding on.

Default I won 2 lots of Cardinals

I was outbid on the Cardinals HOFs in the auction (Dean, Medwick and Frisch) but won the Pepper Martin and 3 Cardinal commons. Prices were about what I expected except Dean was higher at $3000 and Frsich lower at $750.

Here is a link. In the drop down where it says select auction, select the Aug 12, 2010 auction. The Demaree's are lots 2-51.
