If anybody cracks more of these sets and does find an error, I really hope they will check to see if the regular Bonds and/or Ray are in that set too. That would solve the mystery.

After all the discussions, I'll bet it was actually a Johnny Ray error card with the wrong name. It would be great to get that confirmed one way or the other.

My recollection in opening a case of these in the early 1990s is that the "corrected" cases had both the Barry Bonds (correct picture) and Johnny Ray card-

I read a couple of brief mentions about the card from the early 90s and it stated that it was an 'early correction' and very rare. Print numbers must have been low on this one, but what is considered a low number?

anyone selling one of these? been looking around for a while.

i saw this listing today, but seems incredibly sketchy:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1987-Barry-...sAAOSw42NfqDxh

the obvious 0 feedback aside, seller also offering up a NNOF thomas and other crazy raw rookie cards in sales.

That Thomas NNOF is not real or it is one of those modern Topps cards.Think they called them something like cards your mom threw out.

It's not a Topps reprint from Cards Your Mom Threw Out. Those look like this:

2010 Topps - The Cards Your Mom Threw Out - Original Back #414.2 - Frank Thomas (No Name on Front)
Courtesy of COMC.com

Might be a photocopy of the front and an original 1990 back.
Back is totally different that the Topps reprint, and the borders aren't wide enough to be a real card.

Thanks for the clarification. I noticed the only missing black on the eBay listing was his name in the box like on the Cards Your Mom Threw Out.

True, it's similar. There is something going on with the top border as well where the yellow meets the orange. Could be the front of that card glued to a printed out back?

sad that people go to such lengths to rip others off.

i do still want to nab one of those bonds/ray cards though. do even the versions in pretty bad shape go for $75-100?
not a lot of sales to research.

I am not sure about the Johnny Ray / Bonds card. It could be a printout, or it could be real. Weird that he doesn't have Ray's name anywhere in the listing.

i'm with you on this, it oddly looks legit but there's too many other red flags surrounding the seller. shame, because the card looks to be in pretty good shape as well.

went for $102.50. if it's real, that's a hell of a score.
