Default Cool things written on cards(at least cool to you)

Posted By: Kelly

I don't think it is ever a "positive" attribute for cards to be written on, so with that being said I thought there might be some cards out there with writing on it that although you wish it wasn't there, there is something "cool" about what is written.

I have a Christy Mathewson where (I assume) the original owner wrote in pencil on the back "Best fade away pitcher".

Anyone else have any cards they own with writing on it that is "cool" to you?

My 1928 Solly Mishkin has his 193 PCL stats.

My favorite back-written card of all has to be my Frank Sinatra exhibit card. On the back it says "Best Wishes, Frank Sinatra": Ol' Blue Eyes' autograph...

I bought this because of the added character happy.gif

And this one's neat because Charles Kelly (who played for Philadelphia in the 1880's) signed his name and address on the back. It's Leach on the front, by the way.

I've shared this before so please forgive me if you've already seen it. Its not a Baseball card but it is definitely my favorite card from my collection that has something contemporary written on it.

I sold that card some time ago and when I found it I thought it was cool. Someone had the hots for the cupid on the front!
If I remember, I think there were two other cards similiar in the lot I bought. I'll have to look.

My Dad picked up a bunch of Exhibits years ago and many of them have this writing on them. Apparently some fellow with terrific handwriting kept stats on the backs of the cards. I love them. They show they were used and loved by someone, just as they are now in my collection. I feel I am keeping this guy's collection alive, just as I hope my sons will do with mine.
