Default What autographed sets are you working on?

If there is a thread for this already I couldn’t find it. I know several of us are working on certain autographed sets along with certain players or themed events. I thought maybe if there is a central spot to post what we are working on/and or need maybe it might help us. For example I am working on a signed 1950 Bowman Baseball set 155/252, a 1964 Topps Stand-Up 15/77 and a 1953-54 Parkhurst Hockey 55/100 and an Al Kaline autograph run. Please feel free to post photos and want lists if that’s ok with Leon. I am sure many of us could help each other with our endeavors. I am really looking forward to see what gets posted.

Default Brooks Robinson

Mike,

I haven’t been much of an autograph guy in the past, but relatively recently I started working on a Brooks Robinson autographed run of his regular issue cards signed in pen. I’m currently missing his Topps rookie (‘57), and ‘61 card. I really need to upgrade a couple as well, but the ones I have they’ll do for now. I also picked up a few subset cards of his as well, but not really focusing on those unless a nice example pops up. There’s a coupe of his ‘61 Topps available out there, but just not a nice example. I’ll likely do his cards signed in sharpie next once I complete this run (if I ever do).

Your Kaline autos are definitely an example for others to follow in their signed run objectives. Just a great collection of autographed cards!

1953 Topps. I started five years ago this July. Still about 10 that I’ve never seen come up, but the PSA/DNA population report says they’re out there.

I don't have the patience to complete a full set of signed cards. At one time, I was trying to get as many 56T and 78T cards signed and still pick up singles if I think I need them. I do not have a checklist made up though.

I was chasing the Topps All Rookie Team trophy cards too, but that was nearly impossible to begin with (Munson being cost prohibitive, for one) and it just keeps getting worse with all the new, high end players making the teams and the trend for folks to no longer really get base Topps cards signed.

I also try to get as many Dodger cards as I can. This is ongoing, but I don't sweat non-completion of any given team set.

Lastly, I was trying to complete Mariner team sets from 1977 to about 1987. They seem to have had more than their fair share of obscure/tough guys that are hard to find or too expensive for my taste (Byron McLaughlin mostly, but Rick Anderson, Rod Craig and some others) so that collection sits unfinished as well.

Does anyone know for certain if Dave Collins refuses to sign his 1977 Topps card? I know it is not him, so maybe he is one of THOSE guys that won't sign it. I have seen one pop up at least once, but it was quite expensive. I think Collins may be a little elusive to begin with, but I have not been able to find this one at what I considered a reasonable price.

T206
41/521
(Aware of 16 others)

T201
8/50 Cards or 9/100 signatures (dual-signed Meyers/Doyle)
(Not aware of any others, but a Crawford and/or Cobb seems likely, as does a McBride)

M101-2
17/100 (36 others known in Doc Steen collection)

T205
9/208 (Aware of four others - Cobb, Speaker, Wheat and Carrigan; should also be a Leifield, Livingston, Lobert, McBride, Meyers, and Rucker)

1964 Topps Giants, needing eight of sixty - Clemente, Fox, Elston Howard, Farrell, Stuart, Aaron, Mays, Boyer. Doubt i'll ever shell out the cash for a Clemente.

And I'm kind of working a 1978 Topps and 1984 Donruss set, though not pursuing those real hard. Just picking up some as I can.

Default Kaneen's Signed Set Quests

I'm currently at 45 of 48 for the 1948 Bowman Baseball signed set. Here's the list of the 6 cards I need:

20 - Buddy Kerr
46 - Herman Wehmeier
48 - Dave Koslo

Here is a link to the thread in the autograph forum where I posted pictures of the cards in my set:
Kaneen's Signed 1948 Bowman Set Thread

I have also worked on several of the Fleer Greats of the Game baseball signed sets. (The signed base cards...not the certified pack-pulled versions) Here's my progress on those:
2000 GOTG - Complete!
2001 GOTG - Need only 1 card...#46 Bobby Bonds
2002 GOTG - Need 11 cards
2004 GOTG - Need 39 cards

I'm at 27 of 36 on the 1998 Donruss Studio Portraits 8x10 cards.

I'm also about 50% complete on the 2002 Diamond Kings baseball signed set.

In addition I completed the following signed sets:
1997 Donruss Studio Portraits 8x10 cards (24 of 24)
1985-1991 Donruss Super Diamond Kings 5x7 cards (185 of 185) - See Pics Here: Kaneen's Complete Signed Super DK Set

I would greatly appreciate any further help or leads on the ones I still need for the above sets! Good luck to everyone on the great sets you are pursuing!

I've never really focused on any one year in particular but I am probably closest to the following...

1951 Bowman... have 195
1955 Bowman... have 193
1957 Topps... have 313
1958 Topps... have 368

I really like the 1960 & 1961/62 Fleer issues and wouldn't mind getting more of those (I think I have over 20 1960's and just under 50 of the 1961/62's).

Default Signed Cards Collected

Here is my progress on the major Topps and Bowman sets. I have signed cards from other sets, such as T206 (2), T205 (1), Gowdey, Play Ball, Diamond Star, Post, etc, but the penetration is much less. I am 78% complete on the 1964 Topps giant set though. Many of theses were obtained by me in the early to mid 1970s at hotels and through the mail.

I have about 7,000 duplicate signed cards from 1975 and older if anyone is interested in a trade or purchase. I just had a great experience with another collector where we traded about 750 signed cards between the two of us, many are fairly rare or in high demand. It was a fun process with a great trade partner and helped advance both of our collections. I have not included those cards in the totals shown below.

Certainly not in league with what you guy are working on, but I collected most of the Grand Slam set TTM in 1978-1979 and finished it off a year or so ago working with the set's creator. Last one I got TTM was Bobby Doerr shortly before his death.

I have perhaps 15-25 signed baseball cards from '49 Bowman thru the early 60's Topps and Fleer that I collected over the years. It would be helpful if those that are commenting about completing certain sets could list the cards they need ( some of you have ) if it's a fairly manageable list. The cards I have are in my collection and I haven't really given thought to selling them. But I'm not sure where on the site it would be appropriate to simply place a list of signed cards in my collection that might help you out.

Not baseball and certainly not as tough as a baseball set bu over the past three years I completed the 1981 Donruss PGA set and am only a few short on the 1982 set, Calvin Peete Leader, Andy Bean and Vance Heafner. Been great fun.

I've been working on signed 72 Topps baseball for a couple of years. I have 724 different cards and 746 total signatures. Most of the cards/autos still on my list are on the tougher side. Feel free to drop me a PM if you have any for sale or trade. Prefer Sharpie/marker autos.
