Default Is there a list of SGC recognized T206 printing errors anywhere?

I am wondering about the "Dopner", Mitchell "Toront", Hemphill "Half H", etc. cards and which ones they recognize and will slab as such. I have a couple I'd like to send in if they're "officially" recognized.

Thanks

Hi Trae

I did some investigating for you on SGC's website. It seems to be hit-and-miss with the errors.

For instance, "nodgrass" appears as a listed error. So then I looked up the Murr'y error. From past threads we know that this card appears with 4 different backs (Lenox, Tolstoi, Piedmont and Sweet Caporal), yet only one of these backs is listed with the error. That would be the 2 Sweet Caporal versions that were found last year.

I didn't find any error listings for Dopner, Mitchell or Hemphill.

Hope this helps

Jantz

Big Difference

Magie/Magee is an error

the others are print defects (dirty plates)

Jantz, I appreciate your help!

Frank, call them what you want , I'd just like to know which ones SGC will label. Murr'y is listed as a "variation" on the flips I've seen for that one.

Default I believe

It's any that are cataloged. All mentioned are listed in the SCD annual.

Hi Glyn,

I am looking at the 2010 Standard Catalog page 427 - "DOPNER" and Mitchell "TORONT" are there, along with a few others, like "MURR'Y", "SHAPPE", and "NODGRASS".

I don't see Randall "MILKWAUKEF" or Hemphill "Half H" though. Does anyone know how we go about getting SCD to recognize additional cards in the next edition?

Also, I've never heard of the "Maddox, Pittsburg (No team, name, city.)" before, does anyone have a scan of that?

Thanks

Default If you can find any publication that has them

noted you can often make the case. I don't know if they are mentioned in any of the smaller publications but SGC is usually willing to listen if you can show them listed anywhere.

Leifeild "partial G", Randall Milwaukeff and the one I found recently the Marquard "reverse comma". Theres lots of cool oddball print mistakes if you look for them. Not sure they will ever all be catloged into SCD etc. but still cool.

Very cool, cards, John - thanks for sharing!

I have a Randall Milwaukef as well, but I was unaware of the Marquard and Leifield print mistakes.

In my opinion, if more than a single example surfaces it's worth cataloging and the cards should carry a premium.

Variations, and printing errors are interesting ..... but are we talking about the card, or the premium?

Trae

With all the knowledge available via the internet, more collectors are becoming aware of these cards.

Last week a raw Randall Milwaukef ended on Ebay. The seller didn't bring any attention to the error and the card still sold for $43, which to me could be called a premium since other raw cards in the same condition seem to be going for less.

By the way, there is one listed on gfg.com, but don't bother calling. That one is already long gone.

Hope this helps

Jantz

Wonka - Let me guess, your Randall is a Piedmont 350 Fac. 25 back?

Hi Jantz,

Great point re: the internet and awareness.

Oh, right, the $43 Randall on eBay...

The one on GFG.com is a nice example. Nice find.

You're certainly right about the P350 F25 backs - also notice the little "ink slash" over the right-end of the fact. designation. Have you seen this on any non-"milwaukef" P350 F25's?

Hi Trae

My Randall also has that same ink slash over the factory number.

Did you win the Randall that was on Ebay last week?

And to answer your question, nope, I've never seen that slash on any non-milwaukefs. At least not yet.

I seen something else amusing in Wonka's scans, check out the red spot in Rube's ear.

Jantz
