Default T206 Wagner, SGC A sells for $2.5mm!

Now this is a pre-war subject worthy of discussion on the main board.

An SGC A, t206 Wagner sells for over $2.5mm in Heritage last night. Wow....

https://sports.ha.com/itm/baseball-c...=MyBids-101116

Is this the new baseline for a Wagner or is this case of a bidding war gone to extreme? Was it Heritage (vs a different AH), or the card’s provenance, or any other unique factor?

Personally, I feel that if a Mike Trout goes for $2mm (even a “1 of 1”), than this is very a correct price for a t206 Wagner; that said, I don’t see how/why the Trout would go for $2mm.

Anyway, an authentic t206 Wagner closing at over $2.5mm is worthy of discussion on the hobby’s largest vintage chat board. So let’s discuss.....

Default T206 Wagner A

I'm not in a financial position to buy any legit Wagner T206; however, I'd
certainly agree that if Mike Trout can pull 2M, even an "A" Wagner should beat
it- the sense of proportion is proper . Halcyon days for folks who sell these!

Not sure how accurate HA's "Make Offer" feature, the seller is trying to sell the Wagner at $3.78M now? or that "Make Offer" feature enabled by default and it auto generate that offer price?

T206 Wagner is now a CEO card and not touchable by regular collectors.

(I am doing fine and happy with my T206 Wagner with error and graded by PSA)

The error with a Red Sox player instead of Honus?

That feature is enabled by default immediately at Heritage.

If an A is 2.52M, what is a 1? 2? 3?

Just a note, at least IMO, the SGC-A Wagner just sold for $2.5M is in a much better condition than other Auth Wagners. I did brought up before this $2.5M Wagner deserve more than an Authentic grade but someone also pointed out it has been trimmed on the bottom thus it got that A grade.

For $2.5mm, I'd need something a little more presentable.
but relative to Trout, it certainly makes sense.

The most beat up Wagner should sell for far more than that Trout card.

My favorite thing about this Wagner is the fact that It was owned by Joe Garagiola. Story alone, makes this one a little bit cooler to me, If I had the financial resources for it, this would probably be the one I would want to own.

Here's hoping I hit Powerball.
