Default Net54Baseball Dinner at the 2013 National

Net54Baseball Dinner at the 2013 National..........If you liked the previous 10-11 Net54baseball Dinners at the National Convention then you will like this years also. I just emailed the signed contract to the Hyatt Regency O'Hare, Rosemont. That address is 9300 Bryn Mawr Ave, Rosemont, IL, 60018. It is the one that is right across the street from the Convention Center. The Dinner will be on Friday, Aug 2, 2013. It will start at 6:30pm and end at somewhere between 11pm -12am....(not sure how late yet). All of the food and beverages will be the same as the last few years (well, it will be new stuff but you get the idea). Open bar the whole time, a few Hors d'oeuvres, some speakers yadda. yadda..... And thanks again to Heritage Auctions for stepping up to help sponsor it again. It is appreciated very much. All board members will be invited as always.

THIS IS NOT the RSVP thread. It will be within 2-4 weeks of the dinner. You can rsvp now (a few will no matter what I say) but it won't count.

LOL....for those that attend there won't be any choice but to hear me blabber a little bit. I wouldn't call it a state of Net54 speech though....more like a drunk moderator speech.

Thanks very much to Leon & Heritage for setting this up. It is one of the true highlights of the National. Hope to see many of you there!

Default Hey -- in all seriousness

We have speakers every year

But I think, a "state of the hobby" forum is not such a bad idea. In the 1980's when the National had events such as softball games, trivia contests and seminars the one that drew the most interest was the state of the hobby seminar.

I think, instead of just speeches, a panel discussion might be something new and interesting. Perhaps, an auction rep, a grading company rep, a dealer, a collector and a board moderator (LEON) would make for an interesting panel. I would figure about 30 minutes for this --

I agree with Rich. Another idea is to have each speaker just take questions the entire time they're at the podium. Josh Evans did that at a previous Net54 dinner and that went over extremely well !!!

I think doing a panel discussion would be difficult. It's hard to keep peoples attention with lots of alcohol flowing _

Just say boobies, bootie, or T206 at the end of every sentence or somewhere random in there. Always got my attention except the later one.
