My posts are usually off-kilter (scan 1), but surprisingly straightforward when approached from a different perspective (scan 2).

Default Zeke Bonura

Henry J. "Zeke" Bonura (pronounced like Sonora). First baseman for the Washington Senators in 1938 and 1940. 1,099 hits and 119 home runs in 7 MLB seasons. He had a career OBP of .380. He debuted with the Chicago White Sox in 1934. His best season was probably 1936 for the White Sox as he posted a .426 OBP with 120 runs scored and 138 RBIs in 688 plate appearances.

Bonura's indifferent defense on balls hit to his right gave rise to the "Bonura Salute".

The only Cubs player in the set. Hell of a hitter for a few years for the Cubs and NY Giants.

They’re just plain fun. I don’t want to pile on modern cards, but the fun is missing in modern sets. They aren’t designed for kids, they aren’t priced for kids. Give me more bright coloured cartoons like the 1938 Goudeys or the 33 DeLongs

The 1938 Goudeys are definitely cards that have grown on me over the years. I still can't decide which ones I like the best...the ones without cartoons, which I think is the nicer, cleaner design, or the ones with the cartoons, because they add an extra fun element and some interesting facts (I like the happy 3rd Base on the Werber, and I never knew Joe Medwick was so fond of Ping-Pong). And lower condition cards just look natural in this set.

I like the look of all 24 players except Radcliffe and DiMaggio. Something about the faces on those two just do not look appealing to me. Here is a nice used copy of Bill Werber and a relatively decent one, minus the cartoons, of Joe Vosmik.

Ernie Lombardi -- "one of the biggest men in baseball - 215 lbs. and 6 feet, 2 inches" What would they think of Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge?

Ever seen one of those pictures of Greenberg standing next to his peers? I think he was on the 6'7" side of 6'2"

Nice! And I like it that your autograph card has the wrong card number on the label.

Howard's table was too high line for me. He needs a $5 box.
