Default MASSIVE signed card collection UPDATE

I am looking for feedback to start off here. I am trying to find the most economical and less intense way to sell off the balance (30,000-50,000) cards of the find I purchased 2+ years ago. These would be mostly all commons from every sport. I am thinking perhaps offering team lots, year, or brand lots here first? Any input from the auto experts would be greatly appreciated. All HOFers, most deceased, and most stars have already been pulled and put into eBay store. There will be more home town heroes and semi-stars etc. in the large mass for sure, but for now just assume all commons. Most years/brands have little to no duplication which will make it nice. Here is what I am thinking as far as breaking them down:

Minor league baseball
Major league baseball 1950s-1990
Major League baseball 1991+
Basketball pro
Basketball college
Football NFL
Football college
Football european or CFL
Hockey pro

Certified from packs:
Hockey
Football
Baseball
Basketball

Should I just mix in the certified cards with the hand signed cards? Also would it be best or more profitable to offer everything in just teams?

Any input greatly appreciated.

Jason

I think that most collectors focus generally on either a Team or a specific Player(s). Since your post infers that most of the items left are common, I would group them by team.

Just my 2¢.

I know people that try to build signed sets.Mostly newer stuff (mid '80's to present). There also people that only collect certs.I also think breaking into teams is a good idea.I think either way, you should be ok.I would be intrested in some of the baseball when your ready to move some.

OK here it goes:

First I have a ton of minor league cards....around 12,000-15,000. I am going to offer these in 1,000 cards mixed lots for $600 each. This will be delivered price PP gift, check, or MO. I believe most of or all are commons, but I have not dug through these like the major league lot. If you have preference of years or teams just let me know when you commit and I will do the best I can. Let's start off with these at say 12 lots of 1,000 each.

I will post certified autops next in sports then start with baseball.

Thanks
Jason

Just my two cents, I think you're going to have a hard time moving minor league stuff at that price. I've bought many signed card lots, most all of it major league, and typically get them in the .20 -.40-cent per range. Minor league stuff, particularly commons, carries very little resale value, and the person wanting to piece out this lot or flip it is who you would be targetting with such a large lot. I certainly hope you're successful, just offering my perspective from having done this a few times.

Factory issued signatures or in person/TTM ?

I collect signature rookies, GA, and hardwood plus some of the other minor issuers. All sports.

Steve

These were mostly in person autos. However, there are several certified autos as well. I am working hard getting groups together.

OK I have worked this week and separated all super nice (8-10) quality signed cards to start in group offerings. These remaining large groups will be autos that may be personalized, smudged slightly, beaded up, faded, or in ink, etc.....basically lower quality. Most have issues but some have nice bold autos. The minor league cards, however, are mostly nicer because nothing was pulled out. The basketball lot is for everything in basketball so you get the higher quality with the lower quality. I want to first see what interest I would have for the big bulk part of the collection.

Lot #1: First I have around 15,000 or more minor league issues along with major league rookies and minor league rookies. Additionally there will be approximately 8,000+ major league cards all the way from 1951 and newer. Most of these are Bowman, Topps, Donruss, Fleer from 1950-1989. I will get more exact counts later if we have interest. There are plenty of star power and HOFers in here ($5-10 and up to $30 each per me ebay sales)......1 thousand+ of those. An example would be 1950-1959 96 better autos (stars, HOFers, deceased), 1960s stars, deceased, HOFers (61)..... Again I will get more detail soon. I am looking for a buyout price of $15,000 for this lot.

Lot #2: I have more detail on this one. Basektball 1670+ cards.....everything: collecge certified autos (90), College (217), WNBA (64), NBA/Pro (1308)
1970s commons (71), 1970s Stars and HOFers (53), 1980s commons (90), Stars (31), 1989-91 Hoops commons (95), 1989-91 Hoops stars and HOFer (43), 1990s+ Commons (643), 1990s+ Stars/HOF (228)
Looking for $3,200 OBO on this one.

Lot #3 Football: Looking at 8,000 +/- with 600-700 of premium players, HOF, etc. Everything from 1990 and on is all in the lot. The 1989 and earlier will be alot of lower end autos, ink, light.etc, personalized, etc. Looking at $7,500 OBO on this lot.

Could be in the lots. Right now I am trying to sell the three large lots. I will check for you when I get to the higher quality singles. I do not recall a Mauer in there, but 60,000 signed cards can be a bit overwhelming.

OK looks like some bulk football boxes had baseball mixed in so everything reboxed and counted for updated totals and pricing. Check out my edit above. Photos and names of premium players to come soon.

Thanks
