T206 complete sets

I was wondering how many board members have, had, or know about complete T206 sets. I am just interested in the possible total number of complete sets out there. (Complete set can be argued as complete without Wagner, Plank, Doyle, Magie). Maybe we can come up with a list of as many as we can think of. I will start by throwing the Harris Collection out there and the sets on PSA Set Registry.

I would also like to say that some of the cards that appeared in the Yorktown auction of a couple weeks ago were in this auction and sold for at least 10 times as much. This is how much high grade commons have gone up over the last 6 years.

Jay- I have one (minus the Big 4). Consistent vgex to ex throughout. I bought the cards one by one on ebay several years ago and the money was financed by the sale of a golden and silver age comic book collection. Prices for commons (and stars) were much, much cheaper then, even 6-7 years ago.

I need the Demmitt,O'Hara, Doyle(?)Magie,Plank and Wagner to complete my set.I also have at least one of every back except for the Broadleaf 460. Like TBob, my set will grade from vg-ex to excellent.
I am currently about 100 cards shy of a beater set which wont include the big five/six.

need Wagner, Doyle and Magie to complete, mostly VG/EX to EXMT all backs except Brown Lenox(sold it) do not count the Old Mill overprints they are print freaks.

other than Plank, probably dont have $10 k in the whole thing.

...minus the big four. I'm working toward all of them being SGC graded (I'm about 225 away), with an average SGC grade of 40 or higher. The 225 I still need to have graded would all grade a 30 or lower.

The Harris collection is no longer in tact as you can buy t206s labeled as being from the Harris collection

Jay i believe the Harris collection fits into his criteria of "had" as it was once a set.Sounds like hes trying to find any known set,basically how many times one has been put together

I am 26 cards shy of my 3rd T206 set......This will only have 518 cards as it is a unique
set, in that all the backs of the 518 cards are PIEDMONT (only).

The O'Hara and Demmitt are not needed in this set since they only exist with Polar Bear
backs. Also, I am not going to spend the big $$$$$ for Doyle and Magie (who exist only
with Piedmont backs). And, I certainly cannot afford Plank and Wagner; who very rarely
are seen with Piedmont backs. Cards are un-graded and overall condition is Ex

My 2nd set.....520 cards, and I started collected it in the late 1990's. All cards are un-
graded and condition varies from Vg/Ex to Ex/Mt.

My 1st set....I started in the early '80s and was complete with 521 cards. It had a MAGIE.
I sold this set 8 years ago and it was in Ex condition (un-graded).

I have a complete set that also averages about vg/ex to ex on the commons and a little better on HOFs. I also have at least one example of each of the brand backs. I have red and brown Hindu, but still need a brown Old Mill. I am not so interested in series and factory numbers as a back collector.

I have the complete set minus the Wagner & Doyle which means I will probable never complete it. My condition on all the cards would be a solid 5 with some better and some worse. They are all raw and have been in my hands for many years now. Can't see getting them graded unless one day I decide to sell them.

is complete minus the big six. I may try for Demmitt and O'hara eventually but will definitely call quits then. Condition is VG and upwards with about 25 cards lesser, that I am working slowly to upgrade.

Mine is missing the "big 6" and ranges in condition from vg to ex. The hof'ers are SGC graded ..the
commons are unslabbed.

Finished my first set (PSA) VG/EX + last year (minus Wagner, Plank, Doyle, and Magie)
Now working on my 2nd--have Magie and puting rare backs, different mixes in this set.
It's a never ending quest--I truly believe that its an addiction.

I am very, very slowly working my way up the T206 food chain. I have all the Minor League cards, most of the Southern League cards, a good assortment of Hall of Famers, and a sampling of "variations".

My current goal is to have 500 cards by the 100th anniversary in 2009.

That being said, my ultra low grade T206 set is complete minus the "Big 41".

I have the set up to the Demmitt/O'Hare and backs up to UZIT.

I do have a list of others that have the set at least up to the Demmitt/O'Hare. Some were sent to me off line so I will leave it up to them if they want to let it be known. I can give you a number that have not already posted if you like.

500 down and 18/20/24 to go depending on how I'm counting. I've got all the realistic backs except Red Hindu (c'mon EPSCC) and am down to 6 HOFers (2x Cobb, 2x Matty, McGraw and Lajoie). And, just to make it intersting, I haven't bought a Piedmont since about 1993- could be done by now...

I have one, less Wagner and Doyle NY Natl. There are MANY that you won't know about. There are more than you can imagine of the Good old timers like Ted Z that never transferred to the computer age. Same problem happened with the T207 population research. Dan.

Hi Dan,
Bill is a good guy. He's an "Old School" collector just like you and I. I know it seems like a pain in the butt to go through all the backs, but it would be greatly appreciated. I have all of my 2000+ cards on Excel spread sheets now, but didn't have the ungraded ones listed until Bill asked.
Why don't you take a look at what's missing, and see what you can fill in.

Complete set here of T-206 here less Wagner, Plank, Magie, and Doyle--completed them in 1975. Mostly vg-ex. Another of those sets that flies under the radar!

I know of 1 set in a private collection that is minus only the Wagner. I have spoken at length with the owner... about the Doyle in particular. Needless to say, it could be added to your list. I believe the owner is a poster on this board, albeit infrequent, so if he would like to come forward and identify himself, I'll let him do that!

do have around 75-100 though. Never really thought about doing the set for some reason.

On September 18, 2006, I said that I had one minus the big four. Now I have one of the big four, but I am minus the Big Train portrait I used to acquire my Magie.

I took part in SGC's 200 card Registry Special to move over 500 in SGC graded T206 cards. I have about a dozen that won't grade, and a few raw and PSA holdered ones that I need to move into SGC. I'm now also way below my target of having an average SGC grade of 40 or higher, because 194 of the 200 I had graded all graded a 30 or lower.
