Default Looking for Julio Franco

Finally settled on the player I am going to collect- I am looking for anything of Julio- base, oddball, autographs, whatever. I need it all so I am happy to work a trade or I will buy but I figure buying may not be worth the price of shipping- if you have any Julio stuff, please let me know!

Ed

I'm going to have a bunch of cards as I PC Rangers. I'm looking to sell all of my Rangers collection as I'm moving solely into vintage. So let me go through and see what I can pull.

I used to pick up Franco cards from time to time. I will look for them this week and get back to you. Great player to collect!

Ed:

If you live in the DFW area per chance, stop by one of my shows. I have more cards of him that you can shake the proverbial stick at.

Default Here are a couple "oddball" Julios

Hi Ed -- I don't tend to look in the '80s & Newer section of B/S/T very often, but I noticed your post the other day and it stood out to me for some reason.

This morning we were cleaning out some old boxes and my son wanted to open a pack of 1988 Leaf. This Julio Diamond King was in it. I always enjoyed trying to read the French language on the backs of these cards.

A few minutes later, I was looking through another box and found a stash of the 1987 Fleer "Limited Edition" cards and there was a Julio in there too.

Send me your address via PM and I'll drop these in the mail to you this week -- if you don't need them then you can pass them on to someone else. They're "Gem Mint" and need a new home where they'll be appreciated!

Regards,
Brad

not yet- I have quite a few coming in (not exactly sure which ones...lol) so once those arrive I should have a better idea

Right now I think I have most of the base issues from the 80s and 90s, not counting his 83 donruss RC. I dont have many oddballs, and I have nothing from newer sets

Default Julio

In the summer of 1980, I watched Julio and his Class A Carolina League Peninsula Pilots teammates march to a record of 100-40. One of only two Carolina League teams ever to reach 100 wins.

Here's his minor league card from that team (not mine):

There's a card store (The Tenth Inning) nearby that used to be partially owned by the GM (Bob Neal) of those teams. Bob passed away several years ago, but his partner at the time is still the owner today. I'll stop by and see if they have any Julio Franco Pilots stuff.
