Default Chicago Cubs Pennants

Hi, I am new on the forum and have heard great things about the folks here being able to help with authenticity and general info on vintage memorabilia.

I bought most of these 13-14 years ago. As a huge cubs fan I bought them simply because I liked the Cubs and thought these were cool items to collect.

I was hoping someone could help to tell me if they are in fact older genuine items. I plan on keeping all the Cubs pennants and giving them to my son regardless. I mostly want to find out background info to educate myself and be aware of the relative value, if any.

Thanks!

Great looking pennants, I'll bet some of the experts on the board will chime in!

Definetly genuine and definitely a few oldies (1950-60s) in there. Any with the MLB logo will be post 1969. Your older ones will likely be of a softer, thicker felt while the new ones are a stiffer synthetic. Keep 'em out of the sun!

I collect Giants and the fonts and styles in many of your pennants are familiar.....however, I have never seen anything similar to your first pennant pictured.

I've seen all of these (probably own most of them), and would guess most of the large ones come from the 60s and 70s. The first one you picture is interesting in that in later editions, they added the slogan "Cub Power" just below the bat and ball. The pennant probably was first made in the mid 60s and later versions added this when the slogan became big in 1969.

I agree with what Mike said above. Solid collection of vintage Cubbies pennants. Condition is the most important thing with vintage pennants so your black one is probably the most valuable at around $75. The three older ones in the middle that are a little tattered are all 50's - 60's versions and generally sell in top condition for that $100-125 range. Yours would be less because of condition. Good thing is they still display well for you and cover many generations. The late 60's early 70's white fabric versions and the red version would be in that $20-40 range with the newer / stiffer synthetic versions in that $10 range. I rarely deal in mini pennants, but you have a nice selection. I would say most of those would fall in the $10-30 range with maybe a couple of exceptions. Given they are staying in the family, I recommend keeping them out of the sunlight and they will survive for many years to come. Hope that helped answer your questions. Jason
