Default Early Spalding Baseball Questions

I am interested in purchasing a very, very poor conditioned 1910's era black/red stitched ball at some point and don't want to get stuck with a replica that has been made to look old or something that clearly isn't somewhat period correct. I have done some research and have the general dates that black and red stitching was used and what the stamping should look like however, without being able to see any markings or stamps on the ball, what other cues should I be looking for?
I am ok with not knowing the exact date of the ball but would like to know a general approximation - or at least know i'm not being taken.
Thanks-

I would suggest talking to Brandon Grunbaum who runs the website historyofthebaseball.com. He may be able to advise on other details such as thread type used, number of stitches, spacing of stitches, etc. that you should be on the lookout for.
