Default Fred Clarke holding bat

Probstein has a PSA 6 up for auction. Advice on whether I should bid safely? I've seen the Probstein name in a negative light, but it's a nice-looking card that I'd like to have some day

Default Probstein

I have never had a issue from Probstein he has responded to any questions and always ships the next day. It seems T206 PSA 5's and above are hot so don' see a bargain on this one good luck.

Default Me personally

until the dust settles and we see more clearly who is and isn't involved and doing what, I'm staying away from all the clearly named/nailed parties on BO including Probstein. I just saw a card listed that I was interested in, saw Probstein was auctioning it, thought about it for a second and closed the window. I have almost never had a problem finding someplace to spend my money.

With this whole thing going on and all these cards being outed as trimmed, re-colored. etc.... I don't think or recall any of them being T206's... So as long as the card does not have the Harris Collection on it, btw I think a lot of those have been trimmed. I think you are safe.

The big issue with Probstein is the same with any auctionhouse or consignment shop: mainly shill bidding and not knowing whose card it is you're getting. Their company hasn't been directly tied to altering cards, but they have in the past continued to sell cards for submitters that were outed as trimmed in PSA/SGC/BGS holders without disclosure to their customers. It seemed they were more lazy than anything, rather than being openly involved, IMO.

If you are okay with being shill bid up to your highest price, and not knowing who stands behind your card, go ahead. And yes, there were many T206s on the submission lists outed as altered before. That doesn't mean this one is.

Just get a Clarke holding bat like this one and you can sleep knowing it probably hasn't been trimmed.
