Default T206 v Au

Ok, what does a T206 weigh? , and what is the T206 that is equal to its 'weight in gold' ?

Obviously a T206 Wagner or Plank is well worth over its weight in Gold.. But What is the break even point ?

Any ideas?

If this thread is bothersome to anyone, I apologize, I thought it would be fun....

Thanks in advance for any info/replies...

So Peter says about 1/40th of an ounce.
Gold is currently about 1350/ounce
So $34 is pretty close
My guess is a VG common ungraded.

Corollary question is how much does a 520 card set weigh if all the cards are graded?
All slabs are not the same weight. My set includes a good number of all three varieties.
When I weighed everything including holders for the raw cards, my answer was 81 pounds.

Never thought of it that way, kind of crazy when you do!

As someone who has bought a lot recently, I'd be fine with either going up.

Peter, I know that, but you said less than one gram. I picked 40, but could have picked any denominator between 28 and 40. If your card wasn't trimmed, it might even weigh more than a gram.

Shit Frank...now I guess I'll have to have it graded so I can feel comfortable that it hasn't been scalp--eled!

1 gram is equal to 31.10 troy ounces which is the measurement for gold.

I believe I will.
How about 1 troy ounce is equal to 31.1 grams. That does look better. Thanks Pete.

I've got another thread for everyone:

"What is your drink of choice...(while looking at T206s)?".

Mike, I saw your first post and thought "My Lord, grams sure are big in Texas!!!!!!!"

What would each slab have to be made of to weigh 31.1 ounces/card? Lead?

You would need a half ton pick-up to take your set to the post office, which you would have to buy to mail it.

Mike is on the right track, gold and other precious metals are weighed in troy ounces.

1 oz = 31.1 grams

gold is at $1339.00 per oz

1 gram = $43.05

Justin you got it right. Almost took 2 pages. One thing i might change is to weigh say 10 raw t206's rather than a single one and then divide by 10 to get the avg weight of a single t206, the scales might not be reading the single card correctly or rounding to the nearest gram since they are so light.

This reminds me of a great quote, it goes something like this.

"If your teenager knows there are 16 ounces in a pound, they are average. If they know there are 28 grams to an ounce, they are a math genius. If they know there are 453 grams to a pound, they are a drug dealer."
