Default National Watch List/Wish List

Less than two weeks before the National, and for the 21st year in a row, I will be at home. Thought I'd start the thread this year of what those lucky enough to be in Atlantic City might keep an eye out for in case they see it ....

As always for me, any T206 with a rubber stamp on the back from Howe McCormick, 500 W. Main St., Gainesville, Fla. Would be either Piedmont, Old Mill or Hindu backed. Could be one of two stamps, with examples below (the Saturday Evening Post stamps have so far been in green, and very, very faint).

If you see one while there, please let me know via text at 402-212-6818. Crazy thing, I can answer texts while at work, but not phone calls. Go figure.

Thanks to anyone who has the time to look or spot one, and good luck to everyone in their search for what they want.

@Ed
I just went down the rabbit hole of reading your posts about Howie M. That's really really cool. Good luck with your quest. I'll keep on the lookout for these on your behalf. Nice story.

Default T206 Cobb Red American Beauty Reverse

would really like to add one of these to my back run, which started in 1981.

ps- ed mcollum's quest & passion for howe mccormick stamped t206's is unparalleled in our hobby.
well documented and well followed, it seems as tho the whole world is on the lookout to assist in the adventure.
good luck to ed and everyone else who will be attending this national.

I will be at the National and will keep an eye out for any Howe T206s for you.

Can't make you any promises, but I will be on the floor looking.

Default I can't make it either, but...

I am in search for a centered Waddell portrait, with the color hue a deep, deep blue (rather than the common light blue.) 2-3 range. Shoot me an email if one turns up!

Thank you!

Hi Daryl

If you want, you can PM me your phone number and I can send you texts or photos if I find any.

Not sure if you are still collecting Mello Mints, but I can contact you if I find any of those as well.

Default Poison

I'm looking for a York Caramel Paul Waner.
I haven't been able to capture Big Poison, so I'm hoping one of my Net54 brothers can throw the right Pokeball at him and bring him home.

Finders fee in cash, cookies and milk, or just eternal gratitude available.

I am looking for a T205 Cobb with some minute flaw that keeps the technical grade down but looks great. I don't like chipping on the borders either . thanks

I had been looking forward to the AC National for years as it is close for me and I used to live there. Then, my brother goes and schedules his wedding for that weekend!

I will gladly pay a finders fee for an E96 George Gibson, PSA/SGC 3 range preferred.

Thanks!

OT here:

If I go-and, yes, I haven't decided-I will actually be looking for an obscure non-card issue from the post war era. Nobody will get rich from the transaction, but I have attached samples of the 1948-49 Pittsburgh Pirates team issued 4x5 photos. Yep, thinking of traveling from Pittsburgh to Atlantic City at least in part for an obscure, inexpensive Pirate issue. If you have them, let me know.

Default McCullough photo used in his 1951 Bowman card

Brian,

You probably already know that the Clyde McCullough team photo was later used for the 1951 Bowman set.

Thank you, Patrick. Also, the Cliff Chambers card from the 1951 Bowman was based on the picture from the Pirate team issue. I have attached the Pirate team issue example. McCullough and Chambers bring up an interesting point about the series of pictures. On December 8, 1948 the Pirates traded Frankie Gustine and Cal McLish to the Chicago Cubs for Clyde McCullough and Cliff Chambers. This is one of a couple of points in there being two series. The other obvious point is that between the two series, by my count, there are 47 different subjects with 46 players and the manager, Billy Meyer. Just a wee bit of turnover. There are also at least six different players who had more than one pose.

In the event that anyone gets a lead on a T206 Chase Dark Cap Red Hindu, I'd greatly appreciate a pm...elusive one to nearly complete my back run.
I'm also always looking for obscure woodcuts (non Harper's, non Leslie's). Thanks!
