Default My Desperate Quest for Bid McPhee

It looks like Julie and the rest of you may have to put up with my incessant pleas and bad poetry (actually Janice Joplin lyrics) a little longer. Lew Lipset's McPhee is already over 2K with that really annoying undeveloped strip on the left side. I'm still in the running, but with several days left for overly exhuberant bidding by budget-busters, I may strike out again. Then you'll have to put up with me crying.

But you HAD to have an Old Judge...well, that's fair enough, but then you have to save enough money to bid on one. They ain't going to get any cheaper, since last time I looked, nobody's making any!

Julie, I love your Bid McPhee scorecard and I'm very glad you have it. I just want an Old Judge. There was a much nicer one on ebay about a year ago that went for $2500 or $2600. I guess those days are gone.

Once all the wealthy collectors have the cards they need, other collectors will not be able to pay the same prices so prices should drop. Currently there is a huge influx of new collectors into the market, because of the internet, but I think that should slow down at some point. Ben, you're not encouraging any of your friends are you?

Sure certain sets will have their ups and downs but the benefits and the multitudes of new collectors that have come with the internet are here to stay methinks.

But when prices should go down, supply dries up. Great collectibles are only available in an up market.

the demand is SO great, that even though it brings more Old Judges to the marketplace, it may well not decrease the prices at all!

Paul:

Don't feel bad.

Look at it this way:

The buyer of that card would have paid WHATEVER it took to get it...

so all you would have done is drive up his price.

You would still probably NOT have the card.

Hopefully this will help you keep your sanity.

Thanks for the encouragement, Hal. Hopefully, I'll find another one. It's very disappointing to see this one go. Perhaps I will find a skinned one. That would be sufficient for me.
