Harry Colon (of the Green Bay "Packers" no less)

A buddy of mine used to hold up a "Harry Colon Fan Club" sign at some of the games. Sophomoric? Yes, we were. (and still are)

Does having a Harry Colon result in the condition known as Harry Kalas?

Is a name specific to a town...like going to school in Boston in the late 80s/90s named Bill Buckner.

Amazing being in retail the names you see - I had a reservation for a "Ransom Call" who showed up and picked up his car - I guess his parents had a sense of humor. I had a reservation about two weeks ago for Bilbo Baggins, though apparently the flight out of the Shire was cancelled...

How about Johnny Dickshot, an outfielder for the Pirates & Giants in the 30s and the White Sox in the 40s.

I don't get what's particularly funny about Dick Sisler.

For Yiddish speakers, Putz is hilarious. But a close second would be Charlie Schmutz, who had a cup of coffee with Brooklyn and made it into the t206 set. I'm sure there were plenty of fans who thought of belly-button lint whenever they heard or read his name.

I guess as irony would have it, it probably would not be funny after all! Especially if you were Capt. Jack Glasscock!

Terdell Middleton, running back for the Packers in the 80s. If every kid named Jeffrey is called "Jeff," then what about Terdell? "Hey Terd, ya goin' to the game tonight?"

What do people think of when they name their kids?

There was a wide receiver with the Cleveland browns named Fair Hooker. He was on the Browns team for the 1st Monday Night Football Game ever. Cossell had more then a few comments.

Easy Raymond...I believe this our year...to go undefeated and end up 3rd in the polls behind Oklahoma and the SEC winner, which will have at least one loss....No chance at the big dance thanks to Ohio State!

Peter Schmuck

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Schmuck has been a sports columnist for the Baltimore Sun since 1990, and has been named Maryland Sportswriter of the Year four times by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association. He primarily writes about baseball and is host of a sports talk show on WBAL AM 1090. Schmuck was elected president of the Baseball Writers Association of America in 2005. He once made headlines himself when, in 1980, his request for a vanity license plate bearing his last name was rejected by the State of California Department of Motor Vehicles for being "obscene and offensive to public decency."
