Default 1933 goudey question

Posted By: Anonymous

I found a 1933 babe ruth goudey #181. I noticed that it has black print on the back. I thought that this year had green print. Any help would be great! Thanks!

Authentic cards have green print. Some of the reprints do have the black print. It is a reprint.

I looked at the card. It should have something about it being a reprint after, Goudey Gum Co., right? It doesn't have this printed here. It doesn't appear to be tampered with in this spot. Are you sure that this is in fact a reprint card? Thanks!

Not all reprints are marked. Authentic Goudeys have the print on the reverse in green ink only, your card is a reprint.

No, it shouldn't. The answer won't change - it's not real.

A little more info.

The reprints you were thinking of that say "Renatta Galasso Reprint" between the words GOUDEY GUM CO. and BOSTON, are print in green ink. They are seen often with the Renatta Galasso Reprint line scratched or erased off. They are tougher for some to tell they are reprints. Damage in that area is a giveaway.

The black ink back is the easiest to tell for obvious reasons.

There are many different types of reprints of the R319 cards.
