Default OTish - Newsboy? Multiple image card

Posted By: Alan Elefson

Hi-
I aplogize if this post is considered too off topic but I was hoping this board might be able to help me with a cabinet card I picked up at a flea market on Monday. Please see the scan below. Thus far, John Sullivan and a number of presidents and presidential candidates have been identified in threads on the Net 54 Vintage Non Sports Forum as well as on the Boxing forum (under the postwar discussion tab). Several people have posited that this might show Newsboy cabinets (one theory was for a preproduction type piece while another was that it was a knockoff type card, as there are no photographer marks visible). If it does, does anyone recognize any Newsboy Baseball images? I sincerely doubt it, but I figured it was worth a try to see if there were. Also, any further ideas concerning the purpose of this cabinet would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Alan Elefson

Yours is from before the Newsboys.

I've seen 'micro-composite' cabinet cards like this, including one that showed all the US Presidents. I'm sure they were commercial items.

There were a lot of real photo actors cards around in the 1800s, including Old Judge, Kalamazoo Bats, Sweet Caporal.
