In case anyone hasn't seen it I would like to further help my good friend, Tom Boblitt, with his great non-sportscard board. If you haven't checked it out, and are interested in non sports-cards at all, you really should. Take care and happy new year.

thanks for the kudos.....very nice of you.
I'm just the gatekeeper. There are some VERY knowledgeable people over there--especially in all the issues of the 1930's through 1960's. Lots of tobacco people over there too.

We should challenge them to a softball game.

Back in 1979-80, when I was in the Marine Corps, there were some guys that played Dungeon and Dragons for whole weekends. They wouldn't leave their room at all. Those guys were as addicted to that game as anything I have ever seen. I think a softball game against the non-sports card guys would be fun. Logistics could be tricky though....

Wow. Great forum - and lots of overlap in contributors. Thanks for posting the link Leon.

Maybe we should try a joint thread with a best-looking cards contest. I think they might win though - it seems the non-sports cards are more colorful in general.

Either let anyone post cards in the thread from either board, or have each board go through a nomination process and only post their finalists. With the rule that the card must be owned by the person submitting it. (Oops - maybe a bad idea - after the NYC dinner thread I'm not sure we could all agree on who to submit.)

Not sure who'd judge it, but sounds like fun. I'm still surprised at how many of the posters on this board are also active over there.

Joann

A couple of guys across the hall from me in the dorms Freshman year of college, played a lot of D&D also. They would always lock the door and a funny smelling smoke would enter the hallway through the towels with which they tried to cover the space between the door and the floor.

I wonder if there's an over 50 softball league for collectors. I Just turned 50 so I could come in as rookie again.

In Rememberance of James W. Brennan Sr. 1924-1982. Dad, thanks for everything you did for me.
