Agreed. The centering is virtually perfect. I guess I can't count on it to slip through the cracks.

I'll just pile on in saying what a great auction. Even though not everything is in my wheelhouse, I love auctions where I couldn't just find a duplicate of every lot on eBay.
I can honestly say I'm not sure if I'm relieved or upset that my bonus check doesn't come until after this auction closes.

Great auction LOTG. Hoping to own a few more cards at the auctions close.

Default Mantle rookie

That Mantle looks great, and with the way Mantle rookies sales have been trending it should do very well - $35-40k+ potentially.

One thing I noticed about LOTG is that the level of detail in the listing points to a degree of research that is beyond (many) other auction houses.

I've seen the same item get listed many times at the auction house and at times it is clear that they basically cut and pasted the information.

For the items I consigned, it is very clear that a lot of time went into research including a decent amount I had not been able to find in my own research.

I like the fact that LOTG puts minimum bids on the lots. Nice auction too. I'll be contacting when the auction is over to consign items myself.
Great job guys!

interesting. i actually was thinking this morning that with the 23% buyers premium, the 3.5 mantle (i assume you mean the 1952 topps mantle. i didn't see a mantle rookie in the auction) is nearing it's ceiling and that the lower-grade one is more appealing (for the price) and a better buy.

edited to add that neither card is mine!

Ronnie- I just read the rules...buyer's premium is actually 20% (which is industry standard). it's an add'l 3% if you want to use a credit card. credit card sales are limited to $5,000...so, looks like whoever is winning either 52 Mantle, will be paying 20% premium, not 23%.

Thanks again everyone. It's been a lot of fun watching the home page and seeing all the items that are getting the most recent bids, some items I even forgot we had!

I think everyone knows that the Mantle rookie in question is the 52 Mantle everyone has been discussing- if you want to get into semantics about the 51 or 52 being his rookie I think you might be muddying the waters for no reason. 51 is a great card and have both Mantle “rookies”, but the 52 is the iconic and historical one to a majority of collectors.

Great job on the auction Jeff, and hope it does well.

KC

As a first-time consignor, of course I hope this does well. Thanks to Al for some hat-tips in the write-ups for unusually good centering etc. for many of my items....

Friendly reminder that the auction ends this Saturday so only a few days left to get your initial bids in.

Also, tune in tomorrow at 6pm Eastern to the GR8 American Collectibles Show, Al will be talking about some cool things in the auction.

https://www.psacard.com/radio

I already hear from Al way too much so someone please let me know how it goes

Thanks Nelson!

We were mentioned on the Forbes site today, funny what they chose to write about out of everything we have in the auction...

Not funny at all. I thought that was the second coolest picture of ruth in your auction. The first was his missed swing!

Hi Jeff, thanks for bringing us a great auction. I collect T213-2's, and you have 2 HOF'ers in your auction. Both of them are in one lot. I am curious about why you decided to put them together. I need the Marquard, but I am not going to bid on both cards in order to get it. Lot #566.

Thanks, Rick

We actually have 3 with the Cobby.

We could have separated those, but think they make more sense together given the value. Thanks for the feedback though, I'll keep an eye out for another Marquard for you Rick!

Tonight will be 2nd under Al's new "double overtime" closing rule so will be interesting to see how that works out this time (all lots close at 2 a.m. if no bids received in past hour, while others still active go on). I missed reaction to the first use a few months ago so don't know what anyone thinks of it...
